Back up bike the SS
Gravel bike down for repairs dusted off the old SS and it was a blast to ride.

Those bikes were such great "gateway" bikes. Easily adaptable to multiple uses and cheap. Wish I'd kept my old one, I've got the 29+ version, but it's a size bigger than I'd like.

If you have the space to store them, its always worth hanging on to old bikes and drag them out every once in a while for old-time's sake. Here's my 10 year-old Bikes Direct mountain bike that I was tempted to sell after not having ridden it in a few years. Instead I reincarnated is as a SS for free with parts I had lying around. Now its my favorite bike.

For a few years my only bike was a singlespeed Kona Unit. Actually, it was my first "good" bike. I went from that to a gravel bike. Riding the Unit made me a better rider offroad--choosing a good line comes very naturally now.
I currently have a geared dropbar gravel rig and a ss flatbar gravel rig. I ride the ss any time I feel the need to mix it up and I always come back stoked!
