Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I agree. If not then the limit should be more. My S2 has been at min insertion since I've owned it, and no problems. It's exactly where I need it with the 54cm frame.

if anything, a cut post would improve ride. unless the excess extended all the way to the bb, which is ridiculous but would affect stiffness a bit.

How do you determine minimum set post insertion length? I'll be cutting mine...

I've heard the bottom of the post should be below the bottom of the top tube but who knows

Granted this post has been tuned down a bit. About 40g lighter than stock with different parts, dremel work, and ti hardware. I think a lighter post would be a good start.

I would think if the seatpost being at min insertion affects the ride of the bike, then clearly the frame is poorly designed if it uses the post to increase the stiffness. Just for reference Cervelo S series post min insertion is not marked, and it is 65mm. Or exactly where my tape is.

I'm cutting it tomorrow. I should be under 16 at that point...everything else is a bonus.

Neither of those. I have both of them, and they are heavy. Go with a KCNC Ti Pro Lite. Bang for the buck it is the best. I own one of those too. haha.

the purpose of that other thread was just to justify a shorter reach, which will cost you more drag than the zipps save you but is certainly 0.05 pounds lighter.

you aren't understand that I'm slamming the stem, which creates more reach, bringing it in a bit compensates for that. The brand or the fact that it is lighter has nothing to do with why I'm going 90mm. I could get a 110 or 100. we ordered the 100 to begin with but decided to have it changed to 90 since we'll be dropping it. This from the guy that manages my LBS and did my fit.

that guy also put you at kops, haha. if you use your drops at all, thats 120mm lower so dont sweat vertical reach. if you go uphill quickly at all, you wont want to sacrifice 20mm of longitudinal reach.

its 90mm, 0 degree? 55.5mm toptube and 90mm stem would work if you were quite short, maybe 5'6".

i bet moving your saddle down and back and same stem slammed will solve all your problems. just my thoughts. do your thing.

Never used Dura Ace, but they stop as well as my Ultegra, and Force brakes. I weigh 71kgs, so I don't push brakes too hard. As for the weight, they will probably cut close to 100g off of Dura Ace. Just for the record The SS pads were 12g more than the KCNC pads.

As for my ongoing project. I got this pic from Slovenia this morning. My post is the one on top.
