Well it didn't take long for this thread to pick up speed.
grady is lucky this frame is a touch too small for me or I would be finding a way to keep it on my side of the state line. This build has me so excited it has made me really reconsider my current stable. I may have to trade out my only non steel bike for a more traditional race frame.

Even with older tires, I could tell the bicycle was going to be a great fast "recreational" rider.
It's only going to get better from here on out.
Remember, the fellow I purchased the bicycle from said she had been hanging in his garage for ten years.
Ten years of spider eggs, cob webs, wood shavings, dust and tarps could take the wind out of any Italian racer.
But, she is in capable hands Casey.
You'll treat her right!

Well, since you asked!
I really like the polished seat stem and handlebar stem. They look fantastic. I'd have to go with a more traditional and age appropriate handlebar to match though. I hope your tubular tires are as pretty as the Deda TRE tires you put on the Super. Very classy! The yellow cables look good, as they match the decal lettering. Maybe yellow bar tape to match that to. A Selle San Marco SuperCorsa saddle would look great to. Are you daring enough to go yellow on that to? Black is the safe bet there though.
That's about it - for now!

we currently have a black saddle and tape. I think they should stay black to prevent overplaying other aspects yet to be seen. Cable housing has also been selected and I doubt you could change Grady's opinion. He made a fine selection that should look perfect. This bike will be all about the fine details that become apparent as you get closer to it. I should have more pics in the coming days.

My "Tommasini RADAR" had picked up on the hinting of this project and I've been waiting My Super Prestige is an absolute dream to ride. Taking it out for an "easy" spin doesn't work- the thing demands to be pushed hard and just loves going FAST!
That "four months of summer" we had was really a blessing but the last few weeks has been a pretty good reminder of what the weather is supposed to act around here. I kinda think the long "wrenching season" might have something to do with the talent levels in some parts

The bike had sort of an odd build:
Early record hubs
7spd Sachs fw
Chorus 8rd
Record 8 ergos
Rx100 fd
Shimano bb
Athena cranks (I believe)
It all worked well together but I think the new stuff will suit it better.
Wrenching on bikes is a great escape and my only real winter hobby. I love throwing on some good music and working on a nice bike while drinking coffee. I only wish there was enough of a market around here to make it a viable second job. I don't want to get caught up tuning department store bikes, I just want to express some creativity on new or vintage road builds. It's actually gotten to the point where I have mentally gone through all the possible build options with my current frames and components.

i think a few good hints were dropped. Lets just say the groupset will have a period finish but modern performance.

Alright.
The box to Iowa is getting full.
Crank, Ergos, calipers, Kool Stop pads, front and rear derailleurs, Jagwire "Racer" titanium braided housings and I just sourced some very nice Campy bar end plugs.
Hopefully I can make it to the post office before x-country skiing tonight.

Update (sort of):
grady received the bottom bracket and shipped the whole groupset to me about mid week. Between the holiday mail volume and poor weather on my end, the package has not arrived yet.
i did make progress on another front however. I partially disassembled, cleaned, and detailed the take off parts. They are not perfect, but much improved. Now they need a home.

Let's scare up a new stem, bars, and a Chorus fd.
I'll put up that nice DA gruppo for sale by the end of the week to do a little fund raising to buy the needed parts for the Sintesi.
I've got my Sintesi scheduled to go in for a frame alignment soon as I pull the crank and bottom bracket.
Can't think of a better destination for all of these beautiful Campy parts than the Sintesi.
In the meantime, only half of the packages that I shipped the same day as ours have made it to their destinations.
Three of those are in the midwest.
Jim in Queens got his yesterday though, so there is hope.

Sounds like a perfect plan Grady. A red Italian deserves polished campy parts
speaking of shipping, I ran the tracking number on my new stem and the post office shows that it was out for delivery in a town about 60 miles from here... Looks like I will be making some phone calls first thing in the morning.
