Just destroyed an ill-sized ("standard" sized) black Cinelli 1a stem a previous-owner jammed in my all-French 1980 Motobecane Grand Record.

Now I'm hunting a correctly-sized anodized black 22.0 quill stem
Any brand, don't care, just needs to be black and 22.0 mm quill vs. 22.2 mm quill stem
Prefer 110-120 reach, but can't be picky so 100 or 105 would work.
Bar clamp size is negligible for me, I have some bar options.

-----> (NOTE: I cannot use a std 22.2mm quill without honing, it's French!)

I have a slew of silver Cinelli, Belleri, Pivo (and many other) stems to trade - I think I even have a Scheeren stem laying around, one of the really nice "I-beam" style stems.
Else let me know what you're looking for. Unless unobtanium-type vintage stuff, I may potentially have it.

My ideal stem would be in this ballpark:

I am missing a wheel guide and washer from one early Dura-Ace brake caliper, and all four wheel guides from a second set, so five guides total. These puppies:

Anybody got some? A trashed set of calipers would be fine as long as the wheel guides are okay. The washer is clearly secondary. I'm sure I can replace the missing washer with a Campy or Dia-Compe caliper.

I have stuff to trade (need freewheels?), or can pay cash.

Given a polished stem, 0.2mm is pretty easy to reduce with 80 grit paper.

Correct. Can't do that with a black stem. I'm looking to stick with and expand on a specific look with this bike. Person I bought it from shoved a 22.2 black stem in it, I had to "gently" fork it out (it's pretty mangled).

I want to stay in this general wheelhouse, and maybe even seek out a black seatpost in the future, but that's easy compared to finding a black anno'd 22.0 quill stem. I'll probably move towards a navy-colored cable housing too, just to pop off the decals.

How about this one? I have used Origin8 stems in a couple of different French-sized steerers with no issue and no modification. Worth a try for the price?

You can sand down the submerged section and leave the exposed section unscathed.

I don't doubt your personal experience, but given it had a 22.2 Cinelli in it previously and it was totally jammed despite being barely inserted 1.5" (stem is 22.0 until you reach the top of the split, then it jumps to 22.2 within 5mm of there), I'm thinking my steer tube may be a little less tolerant than other bikes. I appreciate the possible solution, but without being to take a digital caliper to the middle of the quill to confirm it's undersized, I think there may be a reason the seller made this part of the description pretty intentionally larger font and bolded:

For 1-inch/22.2mm diameter threaded forks/headsets.

Thought about this. Or even sanding the whole thing down, then using gun bluing to dye it, then polish maybe?

But at that point, I started thinking about the hours of work I'd put into it and decided there must be an out-of-the-box solution to this issue. Certainly, Cinelli must've made black french-sized quill stems?

Edit: Actually, it looks like Kalloy may've even made them: https://www.ebay.com/itm/124083311111

francophile I don't think Cinelli made French-size stems, and if they did, you'll have to wait and pay dearly. The time it takes to make a stem fit will not be even an hour. Try it on that $8 stem if you're scared, and then decide if you want to repeat the operation on a nice stem. If you don't, maybe you can use the cheap stem.

$65.50 seems like too much for that Kalloy stem.

Cinelli did make 22.0 stems, but I'm not sure about black. Cinelli marked these 22s with a small countersink on the back side just above the slot.

In search of a few different vintage bits:
French thread bottom bracket – 118+/-mm length - French mfr or Campy
Magura hs33 or hs22 left lever (the whole unit)
Weyless 27.2 seatpost (the american one from the 70s, not the 90s one)

Also ISO some not-so-old stuff: Campy Athena 11 speed shifters, crankset, front+rear derailleurs. Shimano 11 speed cassette, at least 28t on the big cog. Would also consider a carbon square taper crankset instead of the Athena crank.

I'd like to trade:
A nice Campy fluted 27.2 seatpost with Olympic rings panto (Olmo?) for a fluted campy 27.2 with no panto. Same or similar condition and length preferred.

I'd also like to trade for a 1" diameter steer tube, caliper brake Wound Up fork. It needs to have 7 1/2" of steerer to be safe if threaded, more if threadless of course.
I can offer 1 of the following 2 forks in trade: either a Wound Up 1-1/8" disc fork with 8-1/4" of steer tube, or a Look HSC3 full carbon fork with a 1" threadless steer tube that is 10-1/2" long.

This comment made me realize I should probably mark up my original post.

I'm open to 3TTT and other brands. As long as the general look is roughly in ballpark with the 1A posted in my reply. There are some companies (Pivo, Belleri, etc.) I'm fairly sure didn't make any black anodized stems. I know 3T and Cinelli did, but not sure when it all started.

and 3speedslow can verify the information that I have assumed is correct. It has been the case with the couple that have come through my hands, but admittedly a small sample size.

I'm looking for a pair of 8sp 28h road hubs, so 130mm. I need these two build up a set or sun 24 1 3/8 rims for my son's bike. I've got a pair of Mavic Open Pro rims from 2005 which have a lot of life left, mafac cantis from a Gitane tandem, nitto Olympiad handlebars from a kuwahara and possibly some other things available to trade.

Hey, @francophile, just to add to your search, the New Royal Super Light stem was made in black and French-sized. I bought one at a swap that has the cool milling and ultralight Allen bolts. The anodized black has lightened a bit on mine. It fits your criteria at 110mm extension, but I’m not sure I’m ready to give it up.
here’s a catalog image that details 22.0 size was available and made to order.

https://flic.kr/p/8ZrGKM

I don’t have a good picture of mine, unfortunately. Good luck.

Looking for one or a pair of scrap 650B fenders, 42C capable, provided the fender is smooth. I want to experiment on it to see if a pair of 3D-printed forms can be used to press fluting into the surface without damage (I want to imitate the pattern of the Le Nervuex Type B. Third fender from left):
