Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nicely, I am now working less, and trying to get back into bicycle shape. Par for the course, my last two "get back on the bike" rides involved flat tires and roadside repairs. Sound familiar?
Nice that you're getting the full experience right out of the gate.

Wait. I thought we decided candy corn was a good pre-workout fuel. That and a cup or two of coffee.... Max heartrate in a flash.

I also don't think I ever posted a pic of my last bike build. Genesis Equilibrium frame in Reynolds 753, Campy Centaur shifters, SRAM Rival crankset, all carbon naughty bits. There are hills in Binghamton that Syracuse didn't have.

The single speed has gotten dusty down here.

The cold air has finally arrived. Will need full finger gloves for tomorrow’s ride, as start temps expected to be mid 30’s.

On a more serious note: If this is how it is the day after Halloween, your best bet is to go healthy in the treats next year. In for a penny, in for a pound, either way you go. You bought candy to give to kids, and you knew that wasn't in their best interest. May as well complete the task and give it to some first responders or soldiers, who may just appreciate it.

Of course, I'm in the same boat. Halloween is Mrs. LAJ's gig, and we just have the candy truck back up to the door, and dump it out. I used to take it to work, but the state mentality is strong, so I stopped. Watching people dig through what I brought to take home, was foreign to me, and even more distasteful than eating it myself.

Good to see you, Roll.

It's actually easier to post pics now, because you don't need that third party crapola to make it happen.

Hey LAJ,
Are you saying you bring leftover candy to work, and people paw through it to take their favorites home? If I am understanding that correctly, that is nuts, and I would lose my stuffing over that.

Hey Lester,
I finally made the west coast last year, and Portland pacifically, and thought of you and Ms. Ramona. Are you in Idaho or Montana now? I can't remember.

Eldora, our local ski area, opened today. Earliest opening in 22 years. An indication of the strange weather. CU kids were ditching class, which is what we would have done as well.

Maybe try that tomorrow when I have to get up at 0-****-thirty and ride in the cold to a downtown hotel for an all-day meeting. I could drive in comfort and get reimbursed for parking or take the Metro if it weren't for the parade for the Nats.

I found some photos during the WW phase. I thought I'd eventually crash replace the R3SL, but I cannot.

Agree, but my wife buys the candy (at the Army commissary, no less), and I suffer the conflict.

Good stuff.

Going semi-WW let me know how difficult it was to get where you went. I don't think replacing that bike is an option either.
