We are in the Albany, NY area for a few days. Modified my regular searches for this area and this ad from Fort Plain, NY popped up:
Multiple high end bicycles
Nothing my size (he says everything is 54cm), but he does have a couple interesting bikes:

I think the buyer of this bike understands they can change out hoods.

I'm sure if they think about it they do. But as someone who has worked in marketing, you don't want to do anything that would cause someone to even hestitate. Because there are a lot of great looking bikes out there that have matching hoods.

And something that causes some to hesitate provides opportunities for others.

Price is CDN dollars, so not quite so expensive. Not my size or colour, but interesting.

It wouldn't stop me, and I doubt it would stop many buyers at this level of bike.

If you are thinking of buying the Alan make sure you check the lugs very closely. They tend to crack.
Building up a new bike so I've been looking through the parts section on CL (never ventured there before). Lot of cool stuff shows up, like this Aluminum lugged frame by Alan.

Check out the other pictures, it looks super cool! The seat stays and chain stays look like they are bolted on!

I sincerely wonder if Sheldon would agree that this is a FUNNY BIKE. I wonder if Sheldon would think that, like Georgena Terry's designs, it's meant for a woman or a smaller rider. Maybe Sheldon would just think it's funny.

Maybe I am looking at this differently. The pedal the bottom bracket center is the same distance through the entire range of motion. Besides adding more weight with the extra arm not going straight from bottom bracket center to pedal center what would change in a full rotation?

This Gilco Columbus Colnago showed up at the LBS on consignment this week. He wants $1000 CDN for it which I think is a good deal as it comes with a campy BB a stem/handlebar and a spare carbon fork. I wish I could afford it.
It has virtually every item on my grail checklist:
Predominantly red
Lotsa Chrome, including fork
Colnago!
Fluted tubing
Columbus Gilco tubing
Trademark Wild Colnago paint in good condition
One of the last of the classic steel bikes
So how would you finish it off?

Campy Neutrons
Nitto Pearl/ Nitto Noodles
Campy Ti seatpost
Veloflex Master 25s
Your favorite saddle. I'd go with a Regal.

I didn't ask about the spare fork brand. I don't think it's Colnago.
Here is the shop if anyone wants to take advantage of it. It's not in the cards for me, sadly.
