Three different Bell helmets, none of which cost me more than $19.99. Two have visors, one doesn't. One is less well ventilated than the others, and I only wear it in cool weather.

I wear mostly skate styled helmets or cycling caps. I do try to match color and scheme of helmet to the bike on which it will be used. (paint and/or vinyls) have a few neutral colors that go with anything though. Eventual plan is an inexpensive matching lid for every bike.

I have 2. A red Giro Flak, which is skate-style. Good coverage, fits *perfectly* & is comfy, but gets pretty hot. And it's hot to warm for the most of the year here. I use this one for the skatepark, cooler weather, and when I just feel like having more coverage when mountain biking. Was my only helmet for some years till I got the other one.
The Bell helmet I have is a more ventilated-"regular" style helmet. It's gray & purple, pretty nice. I extended the visor with some plastic from a milk container because the visor was really short and pretty useless to actually block the sun. So much lighter than the Giro.

I've been using only one helmet for the past 5 years because I wasn't that much into cycling, but now I'm more into doing longer rides (+40kms) and it's summer I'm starting to feel like my current Nutcase helmet is a bit too hot for the season. I think I'll get a more vented helmet for the summer and keep my Nutcase for the colder seasons.

I have a few bicycling helmets. one is an old hardshell that could prbably withstand medieval jousting hits. At the other end of the scale i s my old lether hairnet helmet that'd be great for keeping pieces of my skull in close proximity after a bad crash. i have two other helmets that I wear on diffrent occassions most of the time I'm riding. one is bigger than the other and was chosen so that I can wear it over my winter balaclava. I cover that helmet with a high-viz-orange touque to cut the wind.
Cheers

Technically I have two. One is a Giro (I forget the model), one of their lower end models from a few years back. I think I paid fifty bucks for it at a bike shop I refuse to shop at anymore. It's your typical "road helmet" with the extensive vents and whatnot, is all pointy and has a sun visor at the front, and is black and dark gray. It fits fine and does it's job (I guess, I haven't hit my head with it on).
The second one is a Nutcase Metroride I got just a few days ago for Christmas. I felt I wanted something different and I kind of like the old fashioned "pudding bowl" look of the Nutcase line (I also considered a Giro Reverb). Naturally, this one's defective, as the dial in back that tightens it doesn't work correctly, so it has to go back. I don't know if I'll get a replacement or just take the refund and look elsewhere - much as I like the looks of the Nutcase it's a lot heavier than that plain old Giro and I'm not sure I want to ride around all day with that on my head.

How do you know that your Goodwill helmets haven't been in a crash?
I can understand buying a lot of things used, but I'm not sure I would want to risk my head in a second hand helmet that I didn't know if it had been in any crashes.

I suppose if it were new and in a box, I would go with a Goodwill helmet. Not sure I would go with an well used one, though. If it were really clean, but not in box, I might check the date on the inside of the helmet.

Having been one who has tested helmets (twice with direct contact to ground) I am in the camp of one helmet and I replace it every 5 years. I don't have a lot upstairs but I am not going to risk it to a helmet from Goodwill. Just my .02

For the past five years, I've been riding with one helmet - a Fox Flux MTB helmet. I use it with my mountain bike, my gravel grinder, and my C&V road bike. Just wondering how many of you have and use multiple helmets of different styles? Do you see any benefits for having and using more than one helmet? Thanks.

Glad the helmet did its job! I've done a couple headers into trees, but not hard enough to crack a helmet.

Two. The first one is a plain vented helmet that would normally be the only one I'd own. The second is a helmet I got from the local bike share for signing up before they launched. I keep it at work for those times when I use bike share, or that one weird day when I somehow left for work without putting a helmet on. Unfortunately, its the same as the helmets you rent, so wearing it on my own bike makes me look like I stole it. I got a cover for it.

I figure if one is good, three are better ... but I had to lengthen the straps on the top two.

I use the spare as a basket - just sling it over the handlebar. Sometimes I hang it from my neck and store snacks in it. Nothing hot or liquid, just some fruit roll ups, granola bars, nachos, things like that.

Let's see.
Cheap Bell Solar, which is the winter helmet I use over a balaclava when it's really cold.
2 Spesh Echelons, one of which I should retire due to age.
A Giro Aeon, which is a bad fit for my head, but it can be tolerated on rides of about 1-1/2 hours.
Lazer Genesis in team colors, which is far and away the pick of the litter.

I have a son who suffered sever head trauma in an accident while driving a truck at work. Had he been wearing a hard hat, his injury would not have been so severe. NOT wearing a helmet while riding a bike is not an option for me. I have 2, a standard type road bike helmet, and one my wife hates, like a skateboarder brain bucket. That's my winter one, not enough vents for riding on hot summer days.
