Not officially ours but now thinking I'M the one they've adopted! We've known them for approximately a year.

Lots of drama from that time, one was forgotten and left outside while our nearby resident coyote pack are howling. We've had these two on and off going on four months. Often three weeks at a time.

Pretty sorry situation with their owner and I don't know how or where he's going to end up. My wife is greatly emotional about it and also frustrated. Latest ordeal- owner took off and left them for four days, out of food and water (not the first time this has happened). At the persistence of my wife, she made me try and contact the owner last night. Fortunately through some diligent phone work and others, did get to the owner. Agreed for me to pick them up.

Both are very cute and intelligent. We have leash laws but in some remote paths, I've let them off. They walk in synch and very well mannered. The light colored is very stoic and sticks to me like a magnet. Sits still and likes to observe while I work on a project. The other is more playful, endless puppy like.

Wait... I thought this was suppose to be a dog show? Speaking of the dog show The Westminster Dog Show starts Saturday, February 9, 2019. And yes, cats will be there too. 😹

@DiabloScott, I suppose I knew you have a greyhound. I had two. Here is Waffle, our more recent greyhound. She was a big sweetie. We got her at age five, after she retired from racing. I looked her up, and she was an AA champion. We had her for nine years, and I counted: she barked eight times in all that time. She was very calm and quiet. She had the ability to calm down rambunctious dogs. She could even calm down cats and get them to walk up to her. Everyone picked up on her energy.

Thank you for bumping this zombie-thread! This last 90 minutes has been like therapy for me after a bad, bad year. Seeing people being kind to dogs is almost enough to restore my faith in our species.
This is the closest I have to a dog right now. Nena lives with my gf, who spends weekends with me. She loves two-wheelers and has done several rides (with sniff & pee stops) over 50 miles with me. We spent several hundred dollars and waited several months, and her DNA came back: 55% shih-tzu, chihuahua, poodle (poodles are like Irishmen; they breed well with everything), maltese, and a pinch o cocker spaniel. Her hair grows out white when it's long, but turns back to blotchy black & brown when we shave her. Camouflaged like an arctic fox and she usually only has one ear up.

This is Turbo who passed about a year ago, far too young, due to his indifferent owner. The Batman logo on his chest is naturally-occurring! At first we thought some young groomer was having a larf, but when we took Turbo to a different groomer a few months later, the Batman log appeared again. And then again a month later at a different groomer.

I went to the dog park tonight for a fix, but I look like a pervert in a trenchcoat on a playground, showing up without a dog of my own. Life sucks without a dog.

Jasper is our 4 year old Boxer. He’s an absolute love. Completely un-aggressive, just wants to play (or snuggle). My wife got little James a couple years ago, after both my sons adopted kittens and she realized she was actually a cat lady. James is a pleasant fellow, not too needy, but still will offer up the occasional cuddle. He seeks out Jasper to rub against. James will also monopolize Jaspers bed, by curling up right in the center. Jasper is too polite to nudge him off, but instead will move to another rug - he will eventually come to me and sigh or cry until I notice what his problem is. Another one of their activities is Jasper will snuffle James around the floor, spinning him around on his back, and James just goes along for the ride.

Winner

My dog Winner. This is how she greets me in the morning when I get home from my school bus route. I adopted her from a rescue shelter 4 years ago today, 2/14/15. She is, by far, the most laid back dog I have ever had. She loves people and other dogs. I do not know her age exactly, but somewhere in the 10 to 12 area. Favorite things: treats, rides, belly and butt scrathes, naps.

The lucky "Winner"!

Walking with Isaac this morning in the rain, and we met a new neighbor with a blind Labrador. Her eyes were clouded over like with cataracts or something even though she looked young. I was surprised at how well she was able to walk on lead and greet us.
