Personal experience and stories like ripa's inspire me
Before you read this, please take the time to read the post by ripa, as that post truly touched me. https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=279171
That story is one that brought tears to my eyes, and from the looks of it, moved everyone who read it. One thing I also noticed was that almost everyone who posted has been touched by cancer in someway or another. It is a horrible disease that we can only hope one day will be able to be treated. One day-it is an amazing thought.
That being said, my own personal experiences of losing my grandfather to cancer, and watching my one of my best friends struggle to (thankfully) battle back from the sickness inspried me to take part in what I feel is an amazing journey. This summer, myself and 29 other riders will be cycling across the country to raise money for cancer research. Every one of us has been affected by cancer in some form or another.
I just wanted to let people know that ripa's post, and all of your responses to it are why I am taking part on this trek. When times get hard on the road, I will think of ripa's post and your own, and be inspired to continue. Hopefully someday we can get rid of this beast that we hate so much. Until then, thanks for the stories, and thanks for reminding me why I'm doing this. Take care and keep your head up everyone, because even though it didn't come soon enough for many- "One Day"...
