Great this morning. A bit cold and the roads were wet but much less traffic than usual. Going home was crummy. Cold and rainy and I got a flat. Put a new tube in and while pumping up my bike shifted backwards causing the presta head to break off with a swoosh when I removed the pump head. Started to rain harder with no shelter in sight so I didn't think that I would have much luck finding and fixing the hole in the original tube. I hesitantly pulled out my mobile to call for a ride. Two rings and the phone battery went dead. 4 mile walk home in the rain was humbling. I am most upset about ruining a brand new tube.

Great ride in yesterday morning. It was in the mid-50's, and cloudy, but traffic wasn't too bad.

Didn't end up riding home yesterday evening, though. The weather got kind of nasty (heavy rain, windy, thunder/lightning), so I had a friend give me a ride home...I could handle the rain if I had a front fender still. I destroyed my front fender a couple of weeks ago when I wiped out on a recreational ride, and don't have money to buy a new one yet...so, when I ride in the rain (and am wearing glasses), I can't really see anything. Just how it goes, I guess!

Nice commute this morning with a helpful tailwind much of the way. Temps in the low 30s but felt warmer, probably due to having the wind at my back much of the ride. Rode my heavy touring bike but made good time, also due to the wind.

No ride today...fog was so thick I couldn't see the street from the house when I left at 7:20 in the truck. Just doesn't make any sense (in my mind) to ride in those conditions on the busy highways I run on the commute to work. Took the pickup and was glad. Saw ONE cyclist on the way in, he just "appeared" out of the fog at a corner and crossed behind me, and disappeared just as quickly....

Gray sky, slochy, wet morning. But on my bike it's always a good sunny day.

Tomorrow will be my first commute to the new job, I now I have to park my bike outside I've been spoiled the last few years with indoor parking. My new commute is only 6 miles each way but we'll see how well it goes I will be currently working five to six 10 hour shifts a week building locomotives, plus training for a triathlon this summer and am worried that I'll be a bit tired. Had my first commute last Thursday with my new Hutchenson City slick tires and so far am impressed, they are a bit wider than my kwests were but I've got them up at 80 psi so they roll nice.

I'm taking a much-needed rest day, which fortunately coincides with a day of cold, heavy rain. I've woken up in the middle of the night with my legs aching the past two nights, probably due to dehydration, lack of stretching and lots of riding. Last night my legs hurt so bad that I took some ibuprofin and drank some electrolyte solution and did some stretches. It's easier in some ways for me to get dehydrated in winter because it's so cool that I forget to drink. Yesterday the temperature never warmed up like the forecasters said it would, so the temps were in the low 40s, upper 30s on my ride home and I never touched my water bottle. Usually I keep drinking out of habit but just forgot yesterday.

Windy, wet, cold. One stretch was just a bit deeper than I had hoped and both feet got dunked. Yuck.

It's springtime here in Athens; or it seems like it since the weather's holding up nicely with plenty of sun and the temps in the low 20's (Celsius). Major difference since last week where we had one of the worst storms in more than a decade with around 95-110 mm of rain falling in less than 5 hours (the annual amount for Athens is supposed to be around 200 mm).

Nice commute this morning. Temps seem to be moderating now staying in the 20's F early morning and hovering in the upper 30's during the day. Black ice is everywhere so caution is needed as usual. Studded tires doing their job well. Alot of snow melting during the day refreezes at night. Anxious to change out my worn out suspension fork for the rigid. A weekend project coming up soon.

Upper 30s and overcast for the ride in this morning. Getting ready to head home now and it's mid 40s with light rain and 30 mph wind gusts. Donning the rain cape! :-) Rest of the week is looking warmer and less wet.

recently switched from road drops to mustache bars on my Nature Boy and i'm loving them.

I liked it. A nice moon-lit morning ride, and while it was below freezing the roads weren't very icy. No cars passed me in 9 miles.

If the road could have decided whether it wanted to be ice covered, or slush covered, it would have been a lot nicer ride home. Instead, there these three inch wide clear strips, with two inch thick ice strips of about the same width right next to them. No fun to rub a tire against the ice, nor to slide down the ice into the slushy pavement. Required entirely too much mental work.

Tough commute this morning, with a stiff headwind almost the whole way and red lights galore. Roads still wet with lots of puddles from yesterday's daylong rain. Actually had to stop for another bike commuter who was approaching on another road from the left, probably the first time that has happened to me in 6 years of bike commuting. Didn't mind waiting because it was a woman, and I don't see many of them bike commuting. To be honest, I don't see many other bike commuters, period.

Another rough one, cold damp and got my feet wet again in the creek flood. Switching to my alternate, for some reason the hills and stop lights took more than the usual out of me. It's going to get colder in the next week I think, and with ice/rain, and after that I really hope that's the end of it.
