my experience with slime has been very negative (except for the auto version and slow leak tires 
)
I have been using orange seal.....and it seams to do will with slow, low volume issues, but hit large tack and it just sprayed out as both the tube and the tire were well punctured.
I always carry 2 tube and a rema patch kit (there is a differfence Rema only)

The cold vulcanizing solution is the best you can do for "strong vulcanized patch repair". There's really no such thing as a hot vulcanizing repair (and "cold vulcanizing" isn't really vulcanizing at all). The trick of flaming the patches is just a way to remove the solvent quickly instead of waiting for it to evaporate.

Why are hot patch kits no longer on the market for bicycle inner tubes? My father bought me such a kit in 1978.

I know how to fix car tires: I have a plug kit.
I plugged and patched them as an auto mechanic in the shop.
Dedhed and I have the right idea about an old-fashioned puncture remedy that really
worked.
FIRE is a great old-fashioned tool with many useful purposes.

I've ridden Gatorskins for many years so don't know anything else to compare them to. Here in rural North Carolina there are no goatheads but we have glass, nails, screws, sharp steel wire from worn car tires, pointy rocks etc. plus all types of junk that drivers throw out. The roads are deteriorating badly with ripply, broken blacktop and potholes due to the state's "deferred maintenance". I keep a good eye on the road ahead and maybe I've been lucky but riding the Gatorskins with Michelin Airstop tubes (nothing special about them, I just like the smooth valve stem) without Slime etc. my last flat was more than 13,000 miles and 2+ years ago with a similar span back to the one before that.

I've never understood why people will go through tube after tube, thornproof tube after thornproof tub, day after day...
...and yet ignore or refuse to get a set of tire liners...
...or buy tires such as the RibMo's with the protection layer already in.
