Website: please change your password.

Me: sure, no problem. Here you go. *types moderately complex password of normal length*

Website: your password does not meet the requirements.

Me: weird, that's a pretty normal password What are your requirements?

Website: is a secret.

Me: tries three more passwords. Throws phone. Gives up on that website for today.

Is spicy food a bike racer thing? Seems like so many people in this sport are similar to me in their love of heat.

Last TNR of the year at the San Diego velodrome, so naturally I rode my MTB and volunteered to do lap cards. In addition to a (planned) general fitness decline, I took 5 days off the bike recently to visit Zion and Bryce canyon national park so I'm sure I'd get spanked left right and center . Plus I like doing lap cards! I get to yell at the riders and ring the bell

ha!

I thought it was "Select, Start", but it's been a while...

Huh. I dunno. Maybe. I like spicy food because my Mom is Mexican and what a lot of people consider spicy food is just food to me.

I found out Sunday that a friend is very sick and might not be around much longer. He rode to our coffee stop by himself, (can't go fast anymore), and I wasn't sure what to say to him. It's weird, he was dropping me on climbs recently, just like he has for 30 years, now he can't climb. This sucks.

I'm a ta conference this week. The booth down from us brought Ponch, aka Eric Estrada, in to take pictures and sign autographs.

That guy was impressive. The line moved super slow because he paused to chat with everyone and pose with them for the pics. And he did it all day. I don't think he even took a bathroom break. He totally earned whatever he was paid.

Last week I rode around a corner in the fog, then woke up very confused as to why I was sitting in the street next to a puddle of blood with a bunch of friends around me.

Later, a friend that was riding nearby said he heard a noise and looked and saw me sliding across the road. Apparently I slid on my face. And somehow the backs of both hands but not the palm. Perhaps I slid on foggy road? Perhaps I hit a pothole and it flung me forward? Will never know.

Ambulance to SF general hospital. Over the next 6 hours I had an eye exam, a CT scan, discovered I had an orbital fracture, and got a dozen or so stitches on the eyelid/eyebrow by a plastic surgeon. Luckily no eye or brain damage.

Slept all day and left the hospital. Slept all Friday and most of Saturday. Stitches came out yesterday, and I have another eye appointment on Friday just to make sure all is still good.

Bouchard-Hall stepping down as USA Cycling CEO | Cyclingnews.com

DBH stepping down to an "undisclosed USAC" partner. Reading the article this harkens back to something Lance has been talking about and teasing all year. My money is on BMC releasing a big statement real soon about their "future of cycling." stay tuned, I could be wrong on the company but the tension has been building towards it for a while.

Check this out. https://www.rocazur.com/en/. I saw highlights of the event on TV. An interesting aspect was E-Mountainbike racing. There is an Olympian/pro promoting the E-bike event - faster, steeper, more technical and harder. I checked out the Specialized S-Works E-mountainbike at the bike shop - interesting but very heavy and pricey.
