Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I would rotate the bar forward and set the shifters higher. Traditional bend bars are just not meant for a flat transition to hoods.

Maybe next season...I didn't feel like paying 20 bucks for bar tape but I knew it existed. White looked good on the bike but I thought it was time to change it for a year or so.

You should be able to find it for 15 or less if you shop around. And it doesn't have to be Fizik - there's also Deda Mistral, BBB Speedribbon, Prologo MicroTouch and even store-brand faux leather tapes that are the same thing.

It evens out all the stuff on the drive side. My little modification makes for perfect stability.

I know this probably doesn't belong here. Most of these bikes are way nicer, but I just did a little refresh on my bike and I would like some feedback. The seat post and stem are how I ride it, so sorry, it doesn't look as good as it could.

Go easy on me.

Even if its not HOT (which i think it is), calling it hideous is a step too far.

Nice bike. Good staging. Not hot.

Pssh. THAT'S not gonna happen in here, but you appear to be tough enough so kudos for that. Your bike isn't hot, even though I'm sure you are happy with it. However if it FITS you, as you say, then cut the steerer. OR, raise the stem to the top of the steerer and put less of an angle on it so that it keeps the bars right where they are. Even that would look better than what you have. I wouldn't call the bike hideous, but I'm NOT a fan of your bars, that's for sure. Compact bars or even more round bars would look better and this thread is all about aesthetics. Better wheels would also increase it's hotness. I actually like your frame. It's a good looking frame and could be hot. The question is - do you want to spend the time and money and detail to make it so? Either way, ride the mess out of it.

And yes, you ought to be able to get the ergonomics you want without that train wreck arrangement of bars, stem and projecting steerer.

OK, here they are in their current state; dirty, with fenders and other junk on. When I took the bikes over to the new apartment, I noticed the empty room and blank wall provided just the right background. Lighting is not so hot, though. Don't ask why all the crap is on the race bike instead of the long distance bike - it's complicated. Besides, I'd rather subject the cf bike to messy roads than the steel one. Also, not shown are Cosmics that belong on the race bike, which make it look way hotter.

I flipped my stem and put it up once spacer. It does look better at about the same position. Thanks.
