My first vintage bike!

Hello everyone, I got my first vintage bike today.

This is my Batavus Champion Intercycle.
I got it as a gift from someone who knew I had an interest in the 1970s and he claimed it was from that period too,
Looking at it a bit I’d have to agree with him but maybe someone could tell me some more about it!

Have a nice day and many thanks in advance for any help!

This one? I had one in white, it was the cheapest to get but I had some years fun with it. This is 1978.

My first bike shop bike was a 1975 Batavus Tour de l'Europe, two notches up from the Champion - same frame, but with chromed fork tips and slightly nicer parts. The Champion is the equivalent of a Peugeot A-08. Not a super lightweight bike, but when cleaned and serviced capable of giving a good ride.

It’s the same model but in blue and with later done mods to it to make it a city/casual bike I assume.

Great bike, congrats! I had a red Batavus Champion as my first vintage bike. Very versatile.

What about 55 C-T (53 C-C)? They skipped right over me!

Interesting use of 27" instead of 700C rims, but that was a thing with Peugeots of that period, as well.

It is! I checked, and it seems Batavus had a lot of bikes with 27" rims on offer in the seventies. US bike boom influence, perhaps?

Full on driveside, crankside pic would also be good, normally the first one we take.
