Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Beards... for the boys, of course.

How many of you grow out the beard when the foul weather rolls around?

And, does anyone hassle you about it?

My wife did at first. But, I told her, if she wanted to marry someone without facial hair, marry a woman.... or maybe Boy George.

Anyway, I've noticed it getting quite chilly lately. I haven't shaved for a couple weeks now, and it's starting to get thick. It actually seems to help keep my face warm. Good bennie.

Besides, when the colder stuff comes in January, I can hop off the bike, or reach the bottom of the ski hill with icicles frozen to my face.

Beards interfere with gas mask sealing, so they're out. Oh, and they're ugly.

I've recently started rocking the goatee thing. It's interesting and the fiance likes it but seems to be a hassle to upkeep.

I've had a goat the last couple of winters. I'd like to grow a full beard but it's just too patchy on the sides. BTW, the wife hates it but the daughter loves it.

I have a full beard. It is not very aero, but it isn't so long that I worry about it getting caught in the chain.

A downside of a bearded bike rider in freezing weather (I used to live in Chicago) is not only will you get icicles, but poorly executed "snot rockets" will also freeze. This is not very attractive.

Frozen snot rockets are something I had not considered. I'll have to give this some more thought.

So far, I still like it though. Inspires me to break out my old backpack, and fishing rod.

I went camping and mt biking out in Utah back in early October and haven't shaved since I got back, so I've got some serious facial hair going on right now. My wife keeps asking when I'm gonna shave it. I keep telling her I'll shave it when winter's over. But that's just to get her goat. I'm thinking the thing's coming off within the next couple days. My first gray hairs showed up in the damn thing. Talk about depressing.

I recently re-grew my goatee and I'm fine with it. My students think it makes me look more mature which, I'm sure, is a good thing...

I once grew a beard but it was for an acting role in a documentary.

My kids liked it. My girlfriend liked it too but was glad when it was gone.

I'm thinking of re-growing it just for that wierd feeling and comments you get when its shaved off.

This is when it was only about half there...

I'm growing mine out. It's looking decent. The only problem is that hair doesn't grow to the sides of my mouth to connect the beard and moustache.
With the moustache, I'm either goign to make it a Hitler, shave it pencil-tin and wear a bowler hat, or do a Matador and only shave in the middle.

I've had a beard for years and years... I'll trim it way down low, but not off, for fear of that weird feeling
