So, I'm trying to get a buddy back in Ohio into cycling. And as everyone knows, it is a daunting task to get in the right way.
Right know, he has narrowed it down to two options. I've expressed my opinion quite strongly, but I think he needs some help from the forum.
Choices: both are circa '04 (ish)
~$900 Specialized Allez Sport - EC90 fork with Ritchy hubs/Mavic Rims - full 9sp 105 group
~$1200 Colnago Master X-light - Precista fork with Mavic Cosmos wheels - full 9sp DA7700

Forgot to mention that the Colnago has a small cosmetic dent in the TT. Should never be a structural problem, and it did not affect the paint.

That Allez is way overpriced. a 4 year old aluminum bike with 9 speed 105? Id be looking to pay a little more than half of what they are asking...

I agree. This is all a non-issue now... someone bought up the Colnago before he could test ride. Shocking. It was a great deal, and he was just too timid.
