I'm still going through the hundreds of photos I took while on the river up in the Yukon and Alaska. Here's one with some morning glacial glow.

Less scenic but somewhat interesting:
This was a local news reporter interviewing people about the new sheriff in Blue Lake (where we stop for coffee). I got the dog and the cyclists in there just by luck.
I decided I should have told her I lived in that town, and my name was Christopher Froome. I know they wouldn't have noticed, and my interview would have been aired with that name below me as I was talking.
And, as I've noticed before, female news reporters are way hotter in real life than they are on TV.

Here's some early morning steampunk techno grunge. Who knew a refinery could look pretty?

I took my camera along today, because I was visiting a local botanical garden I just ran across on Monday.
Oh, and I went by way of the Delyte Morris Trail. There are lots of turn offs to MTB paths along this section. I did not indulge!

This all looks purty, but it was freaking 50 degrees f, this morning! I was not properly dressed, and my hands were barely functioning by the time I got home from the self-induced wind chill. I literally had to use my entire left hand to shift the front derailleur because my thumb wouldn't do it.

This is from my ride last night around the bike trails of Orange County - Quail Hill...
I was taking my friend out for a first ride on her new bike - she went from an old Trek 700 to this:
She loved it but it scared her alittle - it rides as fast as it looks!

So my friend is a real "noob"... I don't know why she attached on old route slip (from a ride she did a month ago) to her bike... to make people think she has been riding awhile? I didn't ask. Also the shop gave her water bottles for free... she rides with a camelbak; I told her she does not have to ride with the bottle if she is not using them... it's just added "weight". Right now I am just trying to get her adjusted to riding a real road bike. I am really hoping to get her working with pedals shortly but right now she is not secure on the bike... so it will take time. I was able to talk her nto ditching the really ****er saddle bag she had - it came off her old bike. When she bought the Domane so told me she will have to bring the old bike in. I asked "why - for a fit?" "No...to transfer all the reflectors". I told her don't worry the new bike also comes with reflectors which maybe the first thing you take off!

I did have trouble breathing with activity here:
As we drove up, we passed a few souls climbing this thing:
The owner of this bike said it was his first time to climb Mt. Evans, and it "really wasn't that bad". I'll take his word for it.
This is the view of Mt. Bierstadt. My daughter and sil climbed this earlier in the week. I was invited, but I wanted to save what reserves I had for Vail Pass.
One more thing, sighted at the Echo Lake Lodge:

Just sorting through photos and came upon ones taken from my Hellwekk adventure. Hellweek is a ride out of Fredericks TX (Hill Country) and is used by RAAM rides for training. Every day is a century ride but you can modify the route to do shorter lengths. Whether was unpredictable and started out hot and ended up so friggin cold I didn't have enough clothes to wear. The roads were beautiful however, clean and well maintined, quiet of car traffic (except here and there and close to town). Lots of Huge ranches, Deer blinds, exotic animal ranches for hunters and quaint old buuilding and cemetries. I would do this ride again in a minute!
Just some random images:

Since we're on Vail Pass, a few photos of that section coming from Vail towards Frisco in June 2011 I believe:
