^ I agree. We can piss and moan about it (and God knows, I've done my share), but it ain't gonna help anyway. Might as well look at it as a gift and enjoy it!

Got up early to catch the moon over the Pacific again, and again, it was amazing.

That is a great picture! Getting a good photograph of the moon is one of the hardest things for a photog to accomplish.

Which lifeguard station is the one in the foreground?

My son brought his bike over for me to check out as he hasn't ridden it in a long time and plans to start riding again. It is the 1980ish Fuji S-12S that I rode for a while and called "Uncle Duke". I had fixed it up as a college graduation present for him with Campy Racing Triple crank and derailleurs, good wheels with Phil Wood hubs, Nitto stem and h-bars, Suntour "Schwinn Approved" bar end shifters and Brooks B-17 saddle. It needed little more than dusting off, lubing and pumping up tires. I rode it to the store and it rode so nice I almost wish I hadn't given it to him, but he deserves it.

Beautiful, well built bicycle, BD, I am sure your son appreciates what it truly means coming from you and your building it for him.

Thanks! That's a station north of Manhattan Beach.

That was a nightmare of an exposure. It was taken with a pocket camera with a decent zoom but a rather noisy sensor, so I had to take the pix at 80 ISO, prop it up against a sign post and hope for the best. To capture the water in the foreground without blurring took a fairly high shutter speed, but the moon and the water were so bright, it worked out ... with a LOT of burning and the like.

Gotta love digital. You can take 20 pix of the same thing if you want ... and pray one of them is a usable image.

Biker395, thank you for the photo info. The picture is even more amazing because it was taken with a pocket camera instead of a high tech DSLR. I agree with you, digital cameras are great in that you can take dozens of pictures of the same subject and see the results right there and then...and not worry about the cost of film and developing.

Your picture should be there.

Here's a picture of the bridge over the Suwannee River (Nature Coast Trail) I copied from my photobucket account using the above method.

I took this picture last weekend at Asilomar State Park, in Monterey California.

https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=566

This was my first weekend of riding following last December's quadruple-stent procedure. I am OK, PTL, but it was touch and go for a while there.

For my return to cycling I decided to spend a weekend in Monterey for some good riding and healthy eating.

I took the Bianchi with me because it is my only bike with a compact crank and the doc wants to take it easy for the next few weeks.

It was a great weekend and I had a wonderful time getting back on the bike.

Biker395, here is my own attempt at "moon photography." I like yours better.

The sign below was posted on a tree next to a trail in the Solvang, California area.

Sorry. Your shadow picture looks nice. Where did you take that one? Is Natchez in FL?

Shadow shot taken in Myakka River State Park a couple of years ago. Natchez photo was taken when we rode the Natchez Trace Parkway. We started just south of Nashville and I was till smiling after finally nearing the end.

Gotta check out the EXIF data, but I think the exposure was 0.6 seconds at f/5.0. It's not a terribly fast lens, but moonlight is actually pretty bright.

OK ... EXIF data sez: 0.5 second at f/5.6 focal length ~50 mm (no idea what that would translate into in 35mm terms)

Out on the winter bike, my trusty old mountain bikes, using studded tires, and fenders. Sunny Sunday afternoon, in between the "Polar Vortex's."
