Nice pix up there! It's hard to find great fall colors down here in SoCal that you guys get.

We've had some awesome sunrises and sunsets as of late, but with the upcoming time change, this season's beach sunsets are pretty much done for me. As if to say goodbye, the sky put on a show last night.

It's hard to rival the quality of the photos above ... they're beautiful.

I'll just continue to snap photos with my cell phone since it usually goes wherever I go.
These were taken along last Saturday's ride. It was a relaxed ride - taking in the sights.

Not nearly as hard as it may look. Thinking, at that moment, would have been the worst possible thing to do and could easily lead to a fall. Staying loose and keeping on pedaling were the requirements of the moment.

Having ridden through that creek a few times before I knew that my only concern was that the gravel base might shift a little as my wheel hit it, but momentum, good weight distribution and letting the bike move around just enough will almost always get me through it with no drama.

This video he shot that day shows me rolling up to a rest stop at 4:35 and then shows several people riding through the creek pictured above. In fact, I come through at 5:33 though the camera angle isn't good as he was using the still camera at the time.

I commend your bravery, Bluesdawg. I'd be afraid of catching a branch in the spokes, riding through that leaf-snot-infested water. Having once caught a branch hidden in fallen leaves with my rear wheel, I can say I never want to do that again!

Northbend,
That is a beautiful bicycle, and a very well done picture. That reminds me of my Raleigh International, somewhat, in its components and geometry. Different crank, much larger frameset than mine and lugs are different. Loved that bike, should have kept it, dang it all. What is the story about it?

@qcpmsame Thanks and Happy Birthday Bill.

I took the photo last weekend while I was laid up with a bad cold with nothing better to do. It sits in the TV room in our house - the only bike my wife allows me to keep inside as long as it's clean..
The rest of the bikes I have live in the Garage :-)

The bike is an Alex Singer; made in Paris around 1974, ordered by a guy in Toronto. I bought the frameset from a collector a few years ago and I pieced it together with a mixture of components - Campagnolo Derailluers, Headset and Hubs (tubular super competition rims), Simplex Retroshifters and Seatpost, Ideale seat, TA Crankset and bottle holders, Berthet Pedals, Mafac Competition Brakeset and a beautiful Fiamme Stem I had to sand down to fit the metric steerer tube. The only modern pieces are the Handlebars are from Grand Bois (modeled after an old french bar shape) and some really neat toe clips from King Cage that are welded from stainless steel wire. I rode this in the Cino Heroica vintage bike rally in Montana and it worked flawlessly, a real joy to ride.

Just got back from a 2 week holiday in NZ. Oy, what a beautiful country!

Saw a lot of bike touring out there. How does this look?

Yesterday's Ride

Yesterday's ride included a visit to the Goat Hill Overlook. It's supposedly where both Washington and Cornwallis (not at the same time ;-) surveyed troop movements along the Delaware. New Hope, Pa is at the left end of the bridge and Lambertville, NJ is on the right. After this stop, I rode down to Lambertville and had lunch at the Lambertville Station.

Thanks for that B'day wish. The Singer is some kind of beautiful, your choice of components is very well done, they compliment the frame quite well. The TA Crankset is a nice touch, my International had an all NR group, that set looks nice on there. Very well done, sir, very well done.

Lake Wakatipu, New Zealand.

If I ever go back, I'm bringing the bike ... with plenty of climbing gears.

Playing with the self timer on the camera.
