Miscellaneous stuff to complete two projects:

1) 36 hole 700c Sun CR-18 rim and some DT Swiss 2.0/1.8/2.0 DB SS spokes with brass nipples to build up my Shimano Nexus 7-speed IGH wheel for the Salsa Casseroll. Harris Cyclery.

2) 40cm x 26.0mm bullhorn + a pair of 700x28c Continental Super Sport Plus tires + a rear rack for the Motobecane Messenger (formerly the naranja) to convert it into a utility lockup bike. Ben's Cycle and Retrogression.

I didn't have any goofy looking socks for cycling. These seem like a good starting point.

^ GR9's with the cage clips, nice. I just installed the same thing on my bike last week.

Are the straps upside down or is there a reason for that? Just curious, i think someone talked about this in an old thread but i don't remember.

Yeah, GR10's...

Upside down? I mean, maybe to someone else they are? I've always ridden them like that. You can pull them tighter, when yer foot is in the up position if ya need to, as long as the end of the strap isn't looped into the buckle(like in the pic). Maybe it is upside down, but it works for me.

I have another set of Christophe leather straps that i'm gonna double them up with.

Based on the pic I'm guessing that when you tighten them you have to pull the strap down, right?

I always felt it was easier to tighten them with the buckle the other way. I usually tighten them by just pulling up, or holding the end of the strap while the pedal rotates down. Anyway, not saying there's any right or wrong way. If it's been working for you do your thing.

You're doing it the correct way, which is how we always did it in the old days before the advent of clipless pedals when using cycling shoes with slotted cleats. It is also easier to loosen them when stopping, because you just reach down and push out on the buckle at the top to loosen the strap. We also used tabs on the end of the straps to make them easier to grip when tightening.

Oh maybe the pic is deceiving but you actually pull the strap up to tighten...

i like that too. I'm generally terrible at buying multi tools because i always think "Well i might as well get the one with one more feature thats not too much bigger".. and then i end up at the biggest one eventually

I have one. They should be spring loaded; so you don't have floppy lever syndrome when you only run a front brake.
