Paint the Transparent Spots in Bike Shorts
I've got bike shorts that are perfect, except for the worn, transparent areas in the back. I'm too frugal *cough* cheap *cough* to throw them away. Has anyone found a way to fix this?
My current thought is some pliable black fabric paint.

Just paint your visible areas black--meaning your skin. Get some non-toxic paint.
Here's a company that states that the paint is completely safe for even 100% coverage: https://www.starlight.com/bodypaint.html

You're asking too late.
Shortly before Father's Day you should have worn them someplace where your kids would have seen you in them.

I use my worn cycling shorts under a pliable shell (such as a running short) for mountain biking. Works perfectly. Or you can do as some of friends and wear them... for some reason they don't care what others can see...
or what Doctor J says...

But he could wear black Compression underwear from Under Armor or Jockey. They are thin, spandex/Lycra and seamless where they should be seamless.

My swimming suits are black and rapidly change color in the pool water, and don't look very "spiffy." Otherwise, they are fine. They are nylon, and I ordered some fabric paint to see if that would get them black again. My wife and son giggled the whole time I was trying this experiment, and, of course, all the black fabric paint rapidly washed out.

My son- in- Law recently bought hideous Spider tights to go with his spider top. What he did not realise was that they were only meant to be outer clothing and he had bought a size too small.
He was quickly informed that they were showing his credentials and he hasn't worn them since.

Hi,
Sacrifice a pair of black boxers, cutting out the shape you need.
FWIW cheap polyester / cotton mix is about the toughest.
Overlock the edges and stitch into the pants. Add a crisscross
pattern to hold the two together. You need a sewing machine.
rgds, sreten.

Ummm....at the risk of being cheeky, so many choices....butt which one will you choose to help keep your finances from going into arrears...that is assuming you have not already put the problem behind you.
*black shoe polish on your cheeks...easy on, easy off
*ride a recumbent...be 'cool' and nobody sees the holes in your shorts
*train harder...if they can't catch you they can't see you
*captain a tandem...your wife would be the preferable stoker and the only one with the view
*dye your shorts to match your complexion...no-brainer
*wear a fanny pack...cover-up plus you could start a seventies retro thing
I hope we haven't given you a bum steer with all these numerous suggestions, we're just trying to help keep your backside covered. We've got your '6. Please tell us how you resolve this issue as we are all anxious to learn how you got the bottom of this cover-up issue.

Cycle Year Round
I just wear a long tail cycling or safety style shirt that extends down long enough to cover the area.
Seems much easier than some of the suggestions above.
