Is there a way....
....to get the "Ignore" feature to work without have to be logged in?
Sorry for the "Forums 101" type question but I'm kinda new to this.
Thanx

If not (& I don't think there is a way), there is an "invisible" mode for browsing while logged in so that you don't show up in the logged in lists etc. I'm guessing that's how it works anyway.

And, yes, a number of us choose the "invisible" mode of being on the forums - but I am not sure just why? It doesn't really buy anything.

Thanks. I usually only log in to contribute. It's not so much a mater of hiding, but if I don't want to be exposed to the ranting of someone who rubs me the wrong way I don't want to see their posts at all....logged in or not.

Ignore always works for me. If I see a thread that I don't want to read -- or if I read the first few posts and it doesn't appeal to me -- I ignore it and scroll down the page to something else.

Learn to just ignore or laugh stuff off or forums will kill you. Seriously, it's an internet skill to be mastered lest ye become miserable.
Now, which clipless pedals look best on my Colnago fixie with the gel seat and inverted flat bars? I need them for criterion racing commutes where I sustain 30mph strictly on sidewalks.

I ranted.
I finished.
I did not revisit the thread.
No. Better yet. If all you crotchety old fogies can do for sport is push a guy's buttons when he's in a tough time then maybe you're right. Maybe my time has come to move on. Though I did receive several pm's agreeing with my sentiments I'm just too fed up with the snarky, mightier than thou attitude that is becoming so prevalent around here.
You can all be superior in my absence. I'm sure I won't be missed.

Just keep in mind Lenny, they're miserable demeanor stems from lack of testosterone. You being the happier, sensible and sensitive type are a complete man.
Keep riding, smiling and posting.

The man said yesterday that he was done and comes back the next day looking for a way to ignore posts that he won't like. Really! Just looking for a little honesty here but can't seem to find much.

Just someone with enough restraint and respect for others not to make them dread participation. Yeah, I know, we are polar opposites.

Hi, guys, hey, has anyone figured out how to ignore mods? Some of them really shouldn't be mods..

Hi, Siu! Yeah, I tried that for the dude, but it says you cannot ignore moderators? He's like the Angel Hernandez of BF mods.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

OK, here's the deal in a nutshell:
1) The ignore button isn't perfect, it's only helpful. Among other things, it blocks the other from being able top PM you, for one thing.
2) While you can still read the captured quotes of your ignoree, you still have the choice of acting like an adult and remembering that while there's not inherent right to not be offended, there is also no inherent right to escalate.
3) Use the report button and let the staff deal with it. Once a pattern of behavior is established on a troll or member acting in an offensove manner, we have procedures in place to deal with it at the staff level.
