Best bike/frame style for foward mounted child seat?
Please recuse yourself if you plan to opine on the safety merits of various modes of carrying kids - this isn't a thread discussing that.
Hi guys - My child has grown to hate the trailer, and I'm guessing that the isolation and low height are the culprits as she loves the bicycle. At 2.5 years old, she's a lightweight at 24 lbs, so I think I'll be able to get some use out of which ever setup I go with.
I'm considering picking up a new bike as my road and mountain bike are not able to carry any type of carrier. Craigslist out here is weak, and when used bikes do pop up, the rare deal is gone fast and the others are within the price of a new bike.
I'm considering these two bikes in particular, and debating whether a front fork is god/bad/not recommended? I'm going Specialized because the dealer is close, and treats me the best.

I recommend a bike with the longest effective top tube that still fits you height/reach wise. You want the largest possible "cockpit" area to accommodate the child seat and you/your knees. The best combo, in my opinion, is a bike with a long effective top tube and swept back handlebars (with a flat bar bike that isn't designed for an upright posture, you're going to be leaning into your child to reach the handlebars.) Secondary to that would be lower top tube/stepthrough geometry for easy mounting/dismounting. However, I think's that "mission critical" only when you have two kids on the bike. With just one in the front, it shouldn't be a huge deal to tip a little to mount.
