Depends on the conditions. I have wheels for both of these tires. When riding mostly bare pavement or hardpack snow, with minimal ice, the studless tires are by far my favourite. But when the ice comes out in full force, particularly rutted, icy roads, then the studs are the clear winners. Different tires made for different purposes.

They remain slower but otherwise I haven't found a problem with them. Most of my spring and fall riding is 90% clear and they work fine. Just slower. Marathon winters are nice in that you can add pressure to keep the outer row of studs off the ground when you don't need them.
