Ultegra 6700 replacement
The shifter for my rear derailleur broke (a metal part broke off) making it unusable. Finding one on ebay didn't work. Does anyone repair these? It is an RD-6700 10 speed from 2011. Does anyone know the equivalent in a DuraAce? The shift cable runs along the handlebar and I'm looking to find one that matches and not the kind where the cable comes out of the end. Any help would be appreciated.

The 6700 shifter is the last of the 10 speed Ultegra series. Finding these new takes some patience on eBay because they stopped making them about 10 years ago. The Dura Ace version of this final 10 speed series is the 7900. Same story with the 7900. New versions can be found randomly on eBay or maybe from different online bike shops still having some new old stock. I have heard of people breaking these shifters, usually the problem is the coated inner cable starts to shred where it exits the shifter body at an abrupt angle, then eventually it breaks and kicks up the inner wire bits, mucking up shifting.
Some people who are more patient or more experienced can repair these if it is just bits of cable inner wire that are broken. Even broken interior parts can sometimes be replaced by some of these very skilled, patient people.

Go back on Ebay, I found two of them this AM.

Also, what broke? If it is just the cable, look around with a pair of tweezers and a powerful mini flash light, you might just find a few shards of frayed cable wire screwing things up. I had this happen on one of mine recently, put in new cable, still no workie, then I cleaned out several pieces of wire with tweezers, bing bang boom, back in operation...YMMV...
