Me too, but I hung up the motorcycle riding a few years ago. Too many idiots on the road and a perceived slower reaction meant it was time to say good-bye to the Harley.

I know . . . the dangers concern me too. So the bride and I are doing more gravel riding on the scoots, but I just can’t bring myself to part with the Ninja. After all, only a biker knows why dogs hang their heads out of the window!

Mine's pretty simple: I'm a red-head and I ride bikes...and recently, horses (helping a friend rehab a cutting horse).

Bought a brand new Harley for my 50th birthday (a long time ago). When I got the license plate, the reggie was E56789. "Straight to the nine", is what I used to tell folks.
66 now and still riding a (different) Harley, and just had a SOMA Wolverine built to get some exercise.

My 411. First 4 letters of last name, first initial, middle name initial.

full disclosure, I’m a few years away from 50 but this thread looked interesting enough I had to check it out.

In the early 70's Richard Nixon, in coordination with the Dept of the Navy, worked out an arrangement to lease part of Camp Pendleton to the state of California. Included in the land was the San Onofre surfing beach. Ronald Reagan turned the area into San Onofre State Beach. Prior to that, the surfing spot was basically a private beach run by the San Onofre Surfing Club with access to members only. In all fairness, this was done at the urging of the Marine base to limit public access or lose access entirely. But membership was limited and there was an extensive waiting list to join, although knowing a club member could get you in. I was neither a member nor had any connections. Needless-to-say, the club burned Nixon in effigy.

Soon after the beach was opened, I started making the almost hour long drive down the coast whenever I could. It soon became my favorite spot. So 70s comes from that time period and SanO comes from the unofficial name for San Onofre.

Thirty years later I would be sharing waves with our twin boys at San Onofre. It couldn't get any better than that.

John

As old cars get more rare the parts become more valuable. It's a concern, for sure. I had a 1967 Mustang with a 4 speed, no power steering or brakes. Fun to drive around. I also had 4 Pontiacs. 63 and 65 Grand Prix, 66 LeMans, and a 69 LeMans.

Bk = Bike
Sa = Sailing
Go = Golf
—————
BkSaGo = my three hobbies. All three are outdoor activities, can require expensive equipment (although I sail on other people’s boats so I don’t have that expensive), take a significant amount of time, and use specialized shoes (if you’re serious). Unfortunately there’s usually only time for two of them in any month/quarter/year. It’s been pretty much just BkSa for the past couple years.
