ID some details: Mercier "Aquila Euro" maybe late '90s
I picked up a frame for a co-worker (locally at a good price, will replace a stolen Trek) and curious about some details:
Anybody know what type cable adjusters work on these braze-ons? Have not tried any Shimano bits yet...
Also does anybody recognize the brand of vertical dropouts (to me kind of "Vitus" but may be Asian)
And last: the seller said this was "Reynolds 502" tubing but I have not heard of that line, maybe he meant 501, maybe 520 or 525. Anybody know more about this "Aquila Euro" model? Seems pretty light but nothing exceptional
EDIT: Forgot to dig deeper into Google but appears this was most likely Reynolds 520 and later make than 1999, more like 2005 or so

The cable stops look their they're designed to work with Shimano STI (brifter) barrel adjusters.
I haven't heard of Reynolds 502. Like you, I suspect it's a typo and either 501 or 520.
Sorry, I don't recognize the dropouts. However, there's no finishing on the stay to dropout transition. Based on this I'd say it's a mass production frame. Given the era, it may be contract manufactured in Asia. If so, the serial number may provide a clue to the actual year and manufacturer. How about an overall pic?

Thanks T-Mar! The Shimano (style) adjusters fit a charm, I took pics but my focus was faulty so they are not fit to share. However I can relay the serial number which is
IS3J02553
what I can glean from interwebs is this is Taiwan-made, from Reynolds 520 tubing which is made "under license to Reynolds" in Taiwan, but chrome-moly and made for TIG-welding. This probably came stock with a Reynolds "Ouzo" CF fork and retailed for around $600-$700 USD.
Sound about right?

Your description of Reynolds 520 matches what I know. I don't recognize the manufacturer but the format is pretty standard and almost certainly indicates a frame manufactured in October of a year ending in 3. I can't recall seeing anythin 520 reference dating to the mid-1990s , so I'm assuming this is a 2004 model.
I actually managed to find a online catalogue which, depending where you look on the site, says it is either 2003 or 2005. I'm leaning towards the former, based on references to Camapgnolo 9 speed. Regardless the Aqula Euro is listed as being Reynolds 520 with Ouzo Comp carbon fibre fork, Campagnolo Mirage 27 speed (i.e. triple crankset), $1495 US MSRP. The standard Aquila used the same frame but was Shimano Tiagra equipped. It appears they used the same frame for six models, three with Shimano and three equivalent Euro versions with Campagnolo. 2003 CyclesMercier Campagnolo Equipped

Thanks again, T-Mar, that is an exact match to the colors and graphics of the frame I have here. I'm surprised the list price was as high as that but no matter: this will become a 'daily-rider townie' and probably with North-roadish bars and a steel fork. I'm glad there are eyelets and rack bosses on the stays cause I'm sure she wants a rack but hoping it can run 700 x 28 tires, we shall see.
