Putting new fork+headset+stem on a Fuji Feather

Hey guys hoping you can help with a question. Ordering a 2016 Fuji Feather with chrome frame from local bike shop. The question I asked them is if down the road I want to upgrade the fork, say to CF, can I go with threadless for better selection. I would obviously change to a threadless headset, new stem, and worst case new handle bar as well.

But other than that is there anything else keeping this from being possible? They weren't able to answer without ordering in the bike first and looking at it. Thanks!

Possibly, but you will struggle to get a 1" carbon fork as they were never popular, some are on the market, but you will need to budget about half the value of the bike for this; as you would need the headset, stem and possibly handlebars all to be changed on addition to the fork.

So I wouldn't be able to use a 1 1/8" carbon fork if I purchased the corresponding headset and stem? Is the headtube on the frame set up to only run a 1" fork? Thanks

I don't know the specific bike, but a 1" threaded headtube will not fit a 1 1/8" headset, due to the extra 1/8" of an inch!

A quick Google search indicates the fork/steerer for this bike is a 1", not 1 1/8th"

Cool looking bike but it's going to be a hassle to do what you are thinking about.

You really should be after a 1 1/8 aheadset if you want to play around with the fork.

Why would you want to replace that pretty fork anyway?

If the headtube of that bike is sized for a 1" headset and fork steerer, you absolutely cannot make a 1-1/8" anything fit, threaded or threadless.

Thank you everyone for the replies! So it seems that the frame/headtube is set up for a 1" fork & headset and there is no going to 1 1/8" which makes sense.

I do like the fork and there really is no reason to change it, just wanted to confirm all this before I purchased. Either way I like the frame and specs on the Fuji Feather and think it looks quite nice in the chrome. My local bike shop is giving a 10% credit when purchasing a bike this weekend so I can use that on some Gatorskin tires.

This is the color combo I had in mind

Nashbar sells a 1" threaded carbon fork and if you wait for one of their sales it is quite inexpensive. It has a steel steerer so it's no light weight. I have to say the stock fork looks nice.

Nashbar also sells a 1" threadless carbon fork with an aluminum steerer so you can REALLY spend some money and change the fork, the headset, the stem and probably the handlebars too.

+1 that the OEM fork looks good and should perform well.
