Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanks. I wanted to do it with Campy, but it wouldn't fit the frame and was too expensive. Di2 happened whimsically because the closeout stuff was discounted heavily and my wife didn't know the difference. The Ultegra cranks were too ugly, so I splurged on the Praxis cranks, which I've always wanted. I followed Fairwheel's advice for the wheels and have been really happy with the Eastons. I'm running 35s.

And it's Specialized mount for a $35 computer. Cages are Tacx Tao, which I've used for years. 2 for $26 on Amazon. They don't make them anymore because the tabs on the bottom break.

I took it out today on some trails I ride my 5010 on. It's a lot more fun than the 5010. Very fun bike. Road disc is fine but it's nothing to freak out about. My KCNC calipers on my R3SL also work just fine.

Aside from the angular bars, I like the old bike better, but the new one is pretty snazzy.... How many sets of wheels had you gone through on the old one?

Believe it or not only one set. Had a minor run in with a riding buddy when a deer jumped out in front of us and he had to hit his brakes. Only bent a couple of spokes but I had them replaced and the original rims are hanging in my shop. Just never got around to putting them back on.

The rear brake has been replaced and I had a compact crank installed in 2006 when I rode the Triple Bypass in Colorado. I liked the compact so I left it installed. (Lots of hills where I ride so it serves me well). Been through 4 or 5 sets of pedals and I lost count on bottle cages. Other than that it's all original including the shifters and front and rear derailleurs.

I think its HOT! I like the bling you've added to your bike. Those little customizations show that you love your bike and want to show some character.

Sweet bike. The gold chain is a bit much. I have a 2009 R3SL (old geometry) and it's the best all round bike I have.

go for a KMC Red and Black chain

I'd switch out the chain to a red and black KMC chain. Purely for aesthetic reasons mind you! Sweet bike

Sweet bike. I’d love to have a bike that nice for just a commuter

I am digging the BMC especially the colors, but the cages look like cafeteria chair legs in a big stack.

I had a similar thought when I saw that. It looks like there are 6 bottle cages on that bike.

You can have one too. Frameset was $725 from Wrench Science. It took a year to build it using my birthday and two Christmases.

And I don't know why BMC made that top steerer area black. If you have a bunch of spacers, it draws attention there.

Beautiful bike but lose the bike bag. If it won't fit in your back pockets you don't need it.

Yes, I'm a bike snob.

Nice Defy!

Unfortunately I am going to have to give it a not hot. The light and saddlebag should be removed for photographing. The short high-rise stem may be functional for you, but is not attractive. Not a fan of those brake levers.

I never noticed that before but the cages remind me of broken ribs I've suffered from bike crashes...HA!

Gaaah!
I'm a fan of Giant, but how did you do that?
Angle of photo (you're probably too close), high-rise stem that @eric1971 mentioned account for some of the dissonance, but... oy! Those MASSIVE brifters! Those balloons for tires...
I can forgive the reflector (actually kinda like it for some odd reason) and I like the finish, though.

My Bombtrack Arise cro-mo frame was $158 on Amazon, and great as a commuter and gravel bike, but it’s not as sexy as your Cinelli.

Totally agree. It would look a lot better if BMC colored that area the same as the frame.

Can't say I am a fan of the colors of your BMC. Nice bike though.

I wasn't a fan of the color either but that's the only color available for that bike with those options. I must admit though the color is starting to grow on me. At least vehicles should be able to spot me!

2015 BMC SLR01 - currently my travel bike I take with me in my bike case. Frame nicely fits 28c tires (29mm inflated width) and could possible go 30mm with a different rim/tire combo. Fatter tires match the proportion of the fat tube cross sections of the frame.

Probably going to catch flack for the saddle bag, non-garage door background, gum wall tires, and the xtr pedals...

But what the hell. Here's my 2016 Giant TCR Pro 0 with DA 9070 Di2
