My Univega Alpina 501 Ready For Touring!

Wanted to show off what I did today to a very nice Alpina 501 I picked up last year. Added trekking bars, new 26x1.25 road tires, bar tape, rear rack, small front bag, and relocated brake levers and grip shifters. I am ready to go somewhere! I plan to maybe update drivetrain somewhere down the road, right now it is the stock 3x7.

PLS let us know how it rides. Where is the tour going to take you? Fastback stays above the top tube, not seen that unless it was on a GT model maybe...

Question- why didn't you use a conventional rear rack system? You seem to have eyelets and braze-ons for a rear rack. I'm just curious.

I already had that rack on another bike so I just took it off and put on this one. In the future, I will get a better rack.

Former School Teacher myself! I know where you are coming from. Have a great summer tour when you get to it!
