Mid-Atlantic l’eroica style events?
Anyone know of any L’Eroica style or vintage bike rides in the mid-Atlantic area? I’d like to do one but seems like I’d have to go to California.

I’m thinking of showing up to the seagull century on a vintage rig. Nothing heroic about a dead flat ride in Maryland, but maybe we can get a decent crowd of C&V riders, and then — who knows? Maybe it can be a thing.

You mentioned "vintage ride" (vs Eroica-style). What I would like to find is a century that is relatively flat (under 3,500 ft. of climbing), so that I can use my oldest bike, that pushes about forty-seven gear inches in low.

You’ve just described the seagull century. Dead flat (maybe boringly so), but the eastern shore of maryland is not wholly without charm. Course map.

I met these fine folks in Washington DC several years ago. If my memory serves me correctly, they were part of a Philadelphia bicycle club. I think they were part of the Philly Tweed Ride club - https://www.instagram.com/phillytweedride/?hl=en

We should make it happen
Next week, May 19th, there is the Delaware Gran Fondo. I’m planning to do it on my vintage Basso.
I’m also thinking about Bike Virginia — the second half only b/c I have a conflict — but there is so much climbing that I think I’ll need to ride something with better gearing that 42x27. I may convert the Basso to a triple for it, but maybe it would more sensible to ride something more contemporary.

I’m doing the Tour de Shore in Virginia’s eastern shore at the end of June - no appreciable elevation - on my vintage Fuji.

I’m doing the Seagull Century in Salisbury in September (knee willing) which is also quite flat, but I was planning to ride my lighter, newer bike for that one. All the century rides on the Eastern Shore earlier in the year seem to bill themselves as “the training ride for the Seagull,” for some reason, and I’d like to beat my time from the ride in April.
