Sunday, 6/9: l'Etape on GMR & Baldy
Sunday will probably be a great day to ride GMR & Baldy, as l'Etape California will be taking place then.
I certainly don't recommend mooching the aid stations, but as long as there are already going to be a bunch of us riding on it and the event going on, it's probably going to be a good day on the mountain. Forecast looks good too.
I'll be out there in my Lemondrian.

You seem lonely here, boet, This ride is way too masochistic for my liking. And I dislike the organizers' *****ing and moaning about "pirate" riders. They can't close the roads for cars, but a few extra bikes create all sorts of problems for the event??!! My arse! But I'm planning to do GMR on the 4-th of July weekend (probably on Saturday). Just the "sissy" version - from Glendora to the village and back. You up for it?

Alas, life. OBE: Overcome By Events. Might make another stab at it before August if the Universe cooperates.
Am all tapered and carb-loaded for tomorrow. Going to be a hot one, so hopefully they get water to the food stations in time, so I don't get close to blacking out again like a few years ago. :|

I know OBE... it feels like this might be an unusually hot summer but maybe I'm just over-reacting to the heat this weekend, unexpected as it was.

Alas, I DNFed. Wasn't ready for 113 degrees after the chilly Spring we've had. Left hamstring cramped a couple times and felt like a pulled muscle afterward. Spin form was in the toilet and my compensating right foot (with mis-healed bones) started giving me trouble. Really fell apart and still sore this morning. Going to take a few days before getting back on the bike. Hopefully a little cooler on the Fourth, so I can ride Nena up on the dog bike.

Some pics from my DNF-day. (Gack--just looking at these make me feel queasy.)
Pretty much fallen apart by this point. Tough day.
