Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm very safety conscious, especially here in the US where a lot of drivers are less attentive to cyclists than in Europe. I think a lighting system like this gives yet another advantage to the rider.
Sounds great.. Make sure to look directly into the eyes of every motorist as they come toward you with your new contraption.

After I finished a ride, I noticed my rear tire had a couple of sections where I could see the cotton casing. Time to get new tires! And while I was at it, I got new bartape and a new chain.

Life is much better now.

My old tires were Schwalbe Pro Ones and they lasted me 2500-3000 miles. Not cheap but not one flat and they ride so well.

Yeah, I have one I bought a while ago, just put it on, haven't ridden it. They're on clearance now since the 5000 is out, but I don't need the best right now, and I've ridden many many 4000s and loved them.

French-threaded bottom bracket

Finally got the fixed cup out of the Peugeot UO-8 with the aid of a bench vise and ordered a new bottom bracket for it. Crossing my fingers that I got the correct spindle length for the Stronglight Model 63 that came last week....

I keep it in the flash setting. I think it's perfect in that it catches drivers' attention without being so bright as to blind them or offend them.

Only done one ride in the helmet so far, but I do like the fit. My noggin feels really well protected.

a pair of vittoria zaffiro 23's. got 3,100 miles (150 dirt miles) out of the last pair.

a little disturbed about how quickly the exterior of the rear tire disintegrated on a warmish (85+ degrees)

century ride on good pavement after specifically checking the tires for wear/cuts beforehand but i'll give them another go.

only one flat (on that last day century) in 6+ months while riding plenty of mediocre/bad roads.

two new tyres ...

Two new nice and shiny tyres for my Mezzo D9

Nutrak 16 x 1 3/8" Street Commuter Tyre with Reflective Stripe and Puncture Protection.

Had to change them without any tools ... Now that was a challenge on 16 inch wheels! (yes I did have a pump!)

I'm sure that's supposed to read "New Track". But I keep reading it as "nut rack". I am a child, confirmed.

2 pairs of cleats

https://it.aliexpress.com/item/33004...1f7b4c4dJ3Xpdu

If they are actual Shimano cleats, it's a great deal. If they are counterfeit, I'm only out a few $$$.
