Nice Ride This Afternoon

Took a very enjoyable ride after work tonight. About 6 miles. Temp here was about 77 with very light wind. Again another perfect day here in AZ for riding. Slowly working my way up to longer miles each ride. Just taking it easy and going more for pleasure while working to increase my miles per trip.

Snapped a couple of pics.

My new 7200. I took a suggestion from wanderer in another thread and added some bar ends and a Myracle mirror. I'm surprised at how good the mirror is and I feel better knowing that I have a good view behind me now.

Beautiful AZ sunset with the sun going down behind the White Tank mountains close to where I live.

Sunday evening there was rain. And then the temps went below freezing, making some nice ice puddles on the MUP that I use on my commute.

Yesterday morning I attempted it. But several ice puddles cannot be avoided. I made it across one okay and managed to ride off the path to avoid another but the third one, my front wheel made it across, but as soon as it made contact with the ground on the far side, my rear wheel broke free and I did a quick 180.

Well, the temperatures yesterday never went above freezing, and my return ride is still after sunset. So I took the bus home and back to work this morning. Today's temps should be into the 40s, so I hope that the puddles will thaw and drain and I will try the commute back home this evening.

35.2 miles with temps in the mid to upper 20's. The sun was out for a good part of the morning with wind up to 15MPH in some spots. More sunny days like this and it's ideal for a ride.

16 miles today on the tandem, a recovery ride from Sunday's Rice Valley Tandem Rally, a flat, not too exciting 95 mile century. Today's temps must have bumped up against 70 degF.

Good to see you post again Ken. It's been awhile since we heard from you. We missed you here. Welcome back and like everybody else in my part of the world, wish the ice and snow would melt.

Did not ride today. The first of three Synvisc injections went into my knee. I am supposed to avoid anything more than a walk until Thursday.

21.2 miles this morning with temps in the 30's. The sun was mostly shining during the ride with the ground clear of ice and snow. Haven't been exploring the MUP's yet but I know it is still covered with a foot of snow.

Got in 20 miles after work with two coworkers who are getting back into riding after a brief layoffs. Nice weather. Low 50's and a little wind but not bad.

36 miles tonight. There is so much snow that the coyotes are running on the roads. I saw three different coyotes on tonight's ride.

26.2 miles with temp in the 20's this morning. Sun was out again all day. Got to wear my new tights during the morning ride. I felt the lower half of my body was completely naked. It was so cold with just the tights but
after 15 or so minutes, the tights felt great. I think wearing tights
requires a base layer which I didnt have. I ride with sweat pants most of
the time and it's warm unlike the tights. Maybe I just need to get used to
the tight being cold as you step outdoor. Next, I need to get a base layer
to wear under the tights.

Took advantage of the open roads here in Maine this February and did a moderate 14 mile trip on my road bike. So much more enjoyable than spinning my wheels on the porch.

February 19: Did 21 miles on the Chicago Lakefront Bicycle Trail. We still have 4 inches on the ground, and more coming next week. However, the CLT is plowed and salted by the Chicago Park District.

Had a 53 mile hammer fest with the bike club today. It was a little chilly, mid 50s at 7, but no wind and a very comfortable ride. Managed to hang on with the big dogs for the entire ride. It felt good.

37 miles riding with some of my cycling team mates. Nice and sunny with 36 degrees and I was dressed too warmly and overheated big time due to the pace we were riding.
