Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Zipp Service Course SL stem varieties?

I have one of these in 100mm, and it's pretty damn sweet except for the fact it's sized for a bike a size too large for me.

So now I've got the bike in my size, and I order the same stem in 120mm, and I get something different.

What gives? How do I get the beefier design in 120?

The design has obviously changed over the years. You'd have to get pictures of the actual product to get what you want. I have the sturdier version, but it was bought 2-3 years ago.

Anyone got the old style in 120 they'd like to swap for the new style? It has the same stack height.

If it was an ExtraLite in 100mm, I'd buy it from you, then you can use the cash to buy what you want

This is what I prefer:

That looks pretty minimal... I decided the stem wasn't a place to skimp on metal after I tried a light one, got too much flex with a 100g stem. The Zipp at around 140 was the ticket for me.

How old is the 'old style' anyway? You're sure it's not a counterfeit?

EDIT:. actually maybe I should ask instead where you got the 'new style'. Zipp's website for their product doesn't seem to show a cutout on the steerer tube end.

There's also more than one angle. The zipp website only lists 25 degree, but both 6 and 17 used to be available. I have a 17 in the minus direction.
