Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

choosing crank options for Cannondale Supersix

Hello, I have a Cannondale supersix with Shimano 105 11s, Bottom bracket is BB30a. I need to install a new crankset and these are my only options:

-Shimano 105 crankset with adapters

-FSA Energy BB30

-FSA Gossamer BB30

-Sram RED BB30

Which crankset do you guys think is going to work better? the rest of the group is 105

Regards

This is like deja vu. Why are those your only options?

Avoid the FSA cranks. (FSA makes some fine cranks, but the Gossamer crank has a reputation for being kind of crappy. And the Energy is slotted below it in FSA's line.)

Either of your other options will perform admirably.

Well, this goes without saying, but make sure the crank fits your bike. BB30A is wider, so traditional BB30 spindles will not fit. You need I think a 109mm spindle, not the typical 104mm. Correct me if I'm wrong, but FSA spindles are not removable.

I'm sure you can get much better deals online if you're willing to wait a few days. Why not go with the Cannondale Hollowgram system?

Hollowgram is a great option but expensive. 105 would be good to match group or Ultegra. Can definitely get a much better deal ordering from UK if you have a week to wait but if it's an immediate need then get what you can get and afford

Many have gone to a longer spindle to accommodate BB386 and BBRight and then use spacers for BB30. Kind of defeats the purpose of BB30.

Why not go with Cannondale? I can find these for dirt cheap on Ebay. I just bought a barely used 52/36 Spidering for $48 and like new SiSL crank for around $200.

SiSL or SiSL2 pair with Spidering

I would just go for the 105. Unless you're weight-crazy, then go for Red.

Get either the 105 or a Cannondale SISL crankset. Those are the only two that matches your bike's look.

I have a Red bb30 paired with 6800 and it shifts just fine. Also it looks good. This is the latest version though, all murdered out.
