I have a Dahon D7 which has 20" x 1.5" wide rims.
I read that the Dahon P8, which has 2.0" wide rims is fitted with the Schwalbe Big Apple Tyres which make the ride alot softer.
Apart from changing bikes, can anyone suggest a tyre for 20" x 1.5" rims which will have the same effect?

Big G- I have the same bike, so I'd also be happy to get the answer to this.....I'm posting your question on the Dahon discussion site here: https://www.dahon.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3843 (They're a good lot as well, so they may also be able to provide some additional help...by the way, your rims are *not* 1.5" or 2" wide. You are referring to the designated width of the tire itself. The rims will be on the order of 17 to 22 millimeters (less than an inch) wide. Example: the Mu XL has Kinetix Comp rims designated "ETRO 406-17", which are 17 mm wide between the rim's sidewalls).

We have two D7s and an S1. The frames and clearances seem to be pretty much the same.

I have replaced the original 20 X 1.5" tires with a set of 20 X 1.75" Tioga Pool Comp tires (with new tubes too). The idea was to get some additional "cushion" when riding. If they are inflated to less than their max of 60 lbs they do a great job.

I took two 20+ mile rides on the S1 last week and had zero issues with either the tires or the fender clearance.

The rims on both model bikes indicate that 1.75" is the max tire size they will accomodate.

The only ones I have any experience with are the Schwalbe Marathons and Marathon Racers. I find them both quite confortable, but I also have the ThudBuster(!). Both these tires/tyres are more comfy if they're not inflated to the maximum rated pressure. For example, I run the Marathon Racers at 70/80psi (front/rear), and the Marathons at 80/90 (front/rear).

Hi guys - I read on ****** that it is best to get widest tires as possible.

With that in mind, for my Dahon P8, I am thinking:

I see Schwalbe has 2.4 x 20 inch tires. They come with the Tern electric bike and I guess for bmx use. They look great and would pimp out any 406mm folding bike. Could these be mounted on standard rims say of 19mm's?

what about tyre pressure in big apples?
i tried 40psi and it was too low, the tyre feels gona botton out on ground
i tried 60 psi and it show how fast these tyres are, but rock sollid/harsh over debris and potholes,
