I like Webster's on this one. Seems straightforward and logical based on the simple understanding of the situation or facts. "Simple" is key, because this is where common sense often goes astray. More careful investigation and consideration of the facts can sometimes show common sense to be wrong. A good example is Isaac Newton's laws of motion, which flew in the face of common sense at the time (and still do for many). I'd probably also add "socially accepted assumptions" because it's often not objective and unbiased, but rather conforms to the local norms.
