What road bike do you have?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I just picked my Bianchi Veloce last Tuesday. Got about a half mile on it so far. Going in to the LBS tomorrow for the fitting and picking up a pump, computer, saddlebag, etc. I've got Friday - Sunday off this coming weekend. You all know where I'll be...

Thanks, slide. I am psyched to get it all up and running. We were at a sale at the LBS and my wife actually suggested that I get it - she could see the lust in my eyes. I'm a lucky guy.

in my estimate, it is a 62-64cm frame.

Here's my ride: a new-to-me Specialized Epic Allez. The Look pedals have been replaced with some SPD mountain bike pedals, and that ass-hatchet of a seat has been yanked for a Koobi Enduro. Other than that, it's still in it's 7spd downtube shifters 105 gruppo original state, including the Wolber rims.

Yeah I'm tall, just tall enough to throw a leg over the "Green Monster". For some reason though it looks bigger in the pic than it does in real life. Anyway it is a 64 and I am 6'5" so it is at the limit for traditional sizing parameters. I just love riding it, so smooth and quiet. Everything is italaian except the Rigida rims, Swift saddle, Conti sew ups and a Dura Ace 7sp freewhweel. I have a NOS Regina ready to install but the DA is so quiet I don't want to take it off! As you may have guessed I am a confirmed retro grouch and I love restoring and putzing almost as much as riding. I spend way too much time and $ at ebay. I think I will build an all japanese project next winter.... could be fun!

I know there are some quality japanese frames from the 70s and 80s with exotic sounding names that were never exported and very unheard of in the west. Most have cool paint jobs and decals. To find something nice on ebay and then build it up with period Dura Ace stuff, that could be fun.

By the way... anyone out there ever heard of CHIMO bikes********** I got one. There is nothing on the internet and I don't know if it's japanese or Brazilian or??? Tange tubing and the old Shimano 600 gruppo with scrollwork on everything. 6sp uniglide cassette, most have been one of the first cassette hubs, and 27 inch wheels. Pink! I must take a picture of it.

early 600, Tange tubing? I'm betting its Japanese.

Chas, have you checked out Yellowjersey in Minnesota
(or somewhere up there), they carry 3Rensho (and still
have frames), Nagasawa and a few other good japanese
frames.

Ok, I had to look it up it was buggin me. They are in
Madison Wisconsin (well thats close to Minnesota right? )
Link Here

They also carry Clement tubulars.

I had a really nice Maruishi Tange Al bike with 105 back in the late 80's. Wish I would have kept it cause it was a great bike to ride.......

Roadie is a Habanero Ti frame, with Kestral carbon fork. Full Campy Record 10 drivetrain. Headset will be record when the 1999 Athena unit currently installed dies. No sign of that happening, I just cleaned and regreased it and it's buttery smooth. Brakes are Athena as well, but I'm having a crisis of conscience about shelling out the 2 c-notes for the Record-D units. Thompson seatpost, Brooks swift saddle(all my bikes have them, best saddle money can buy)
Pictures to be posted as soon as they're available.

Also a Bianchi Volpe tourer with Racing-T componentry, work in progress.
