Cheap clear lens glasses?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cheap clear lens glasses?

Looking to pick up a pair of clear lens cycling glasses from somewhere cheap like Target or Home Depot. My Oakley sunglasses have clear lenses I can get for them, but I'm looking into the budget approach first before dropping $80 on them.

Any suggestions that are reasonably comfortable?

Go try on some clear safety glasses at Home Depot or Lowes. They probably have lots of options under $5, just find one that is reasonably comfy.

^ +1. I think I spend $8 on safety glasses at Lowes before I upgraded to these, which have been great and well worth the money (and nowhere near $80). I upgraded in order to have the tinted option as well with only one frame to deal with.

I got fake Oakleys on ebay for about $20 that come with all the different replaceable lenses so you have clear, amber, dark and polarized

I personally found Oakleys to work "not so great" for cycling.

I find that good cycling glasses are kind of sport specific. They have to be EITHER (higher sitting because we are often looking up relative to head position) OR have to fit under the eyebrow ridge so that air flows across the top edge rather than past it.

Otherwise, the air still hits the eyeballs producing blurry watery vision.

Another option is to check out ebay for some oakley compatible clear replacement lenses, which will much less expensive than $80.00.

What about the photochromatic lenses? That way you get something useful for the money. If you are like me, you probably won't be happy with the cheap glasses and will end up buying Oakley lenses so you can keep wearing the Oakleys.

I bought some of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JB3DU4A and have been pleasantly surprised with them.

I have bought random off-brand cycling glasses before and found them to be super cheaply made and/or not durable. These have, so far (a month-and-a-half) held up perfectly.

Like shoes or saddles, this is a very personal decision so you should go someplace and try them on.

If you live near a Performance bike shop, I have had good luck with their house-branded glasses which typically have 3 sets of lenses including clear. But try them for fit.

That I have not. I would expect cycling specific Oakleys to work correctly.

(Honestly, I didn't even realize that had cycling specific models. I don't believe they used to.)

For night rides I use clear safety glasses with inset 2.0 reading diopters. $7 at Menards - haven't seen at Lowes or HomeD. Great for finding tiny debris in tires. Have also ordered yellow tint version of the same from Amazon - about $12 delivered.

I tried safety glasses and nearly made myself sick from the image distortion when looking through the tops of the lens (as you might do on a road bike). Some safety glasses may work, but test them first. At night, you probably won't want photochromatic lenses because I don't think they get fully clear (but close).

I've used performance bike glasses and now tifosi, both are fine. I would get dedicated glasses for night riding to avoid swapping lenses all the time.

Got a pair of these: ROCKBROS Polarized Cycling Glasses Eyewear Bike Goggles Fishing Sunglasses | eBay

I've had them now for about four months now and use them exclusively, though the only lens I use is the lightly tinted one since I ride in partial darkness in the morning, and can't be bothered to change them on the ride home, which is full sun. But the five or six inserts come in varying degrees of tint, with the darkest one being polarized.

Ektelon mirage II racquetball glasses.

No frames, only 10 bucks.

I've used them for years at night.

I've never ridden in anything other than safety glasses. Now that I can no longer see the display on my garmin I use these.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Radians-Rad-...EAAOSwxvxW8aPs

I bought them to use on a trial basis, but they work so well I haven't changed yet. Usually, I get the tinted, polarized, UV blocking saftety glasses for about 15 bucks.
I also have a pair of amber ones for night riding, but I so rarely do that anymore they're just collecting dust.

As others have said, antifog and hydrophobic safety glasses can be found pretty much anywhere for $10 or less. Bolle in particular makes a ton of models that work well for cycling.
