Hi all,
I did 21 miles on my hybrid today. It was a tune-up for this coming Saturday's 25 mile fund raising ride.
Cool (high 60's and clear) this morning. Moving down from 38cc to 32cc tires has helped in the speed and weight department.

Put a combined 75 miles over the holiday weekend. Split between 4 different paths I've never been on.
Most notable was on a specific path yesterday. First 8 miles of the most beautiful paved, marked and well kept trails I've been on. Middle line divider. Good scenery. Covered bridges. Mile markers. Above average map kiosks. Signs about being courteous when passing/staying right. Dog doo drop off cans. Nice benches spaced out. Even had a bike repair station.
After that 8 miles, it turned into totally a beat up dirt/rock/ mud trail in Amish Country. Not crushed/ hard packed gravel. No. Just a beat up, undeveloped mess of muck. Sharing a path with a horse and buggy put a new twist on multi-use path.
I got good at dodging horse ploppies though.
Overall great weekend of riding was accomplished.

First the Metro North train took me and the hybrid to Brewster, NY. Then the hybrid took me 50 miles back to Van Cortlandt park via the local trailways.

First 25 mile day with the wife, where stops were less than 5 minutes. She hit her "wall" at 18 miles and we had to take it easy for the last 7 miles. She's getting stringer with each ride.

Not really. I went for a bike fitting but arrived there early and the shop is opposite Crystal Palace Park (south London) so I went to have a look around.

Just came back from this ride. Went to explore some new roads I've wanted to check out for a while. And a well hidden waterfall as a bonus.
52km, over 800m of climbs.

back into the garage
Irma's comin' and I didn't think I'd make it home, dry, before the outer bands begin to reach Kentucky.

You can have Irma - we were at a storm shelter (Elementary School) for 24 hours here in the Tampa area and spent Saturday boarding up the windows at home first. Lucky for us that it came on shore much further south of us than expected and took a more easterly track. Lucky for us but not so lucky for the Naples-Marco Island area that were directly hit by the eye!

Glad we weren't under 2 feet of water like they were further down the state, and that the roof stayed attached.
I feel sorry for the Carribean that are getting slammed again with Maria now.
Let's hope that one doesn't come our way too eh?
The Withlacoochie trail is calling my name for next weekend I think. ☺

I haven't tried the Withlacoochee trail yet - I usually go to the Starkey Park Trail in Pasco County near my home. I've been really wanting to get there though - used to go camping and canoeing on the Withlacoochee River in my younger days. Is the trail along the river much? They're having a pretty bad issue with flooding along the river this week - worst flooding in like 75 years they say!

Took the Ogre out for a little over 40 mile ride with its new Big Apple tires and 20 pounds of gear and beer ! Those tires are just awesome once you get the pressures dialed in, even at 50 total pounds, it was a dream to ride.
