Pristine Miyata 912 Found Up In The Rafters - 1981
In another thread I mentioned finding a beautiful ~1970 Zeus Competition and the neighbor who I got it form also had another bike he offered to me as he’s selling his house and had been gifted both by his father-in-law. Neither had been ridden in decades…. Well the “other bike” is this pristine Miyata 912. This one looked to be in such good shape that I took it as well, but it’s much too small for me unfortunately. It has a really nice Shimano 600 EX(Arabesque?) groupset.
I think this was their high end road bike of the late 70s & early 80s, right below the Pro and Team.
From what I read, the “J” serial number makes this a 1981 bike.
It looks to be a really well made frame and I like the full mint Shimano 600 EX Arabesque groupset. I’m not sure what to do with it. Maybe I can transplant the groupset onto a frame my size. I really do like the looks of this black on orange though.
These pictures are as-found. I haven't had a chance to even take a close look at her yet.
Any suggestions, corrections, or clarifications are warmly welcomed! Thanks.

I lusted after the 912 in 1981 but funds limited me to the 710, which I still have 43 years later.
Make it a wall hanger.

Sell or give it to someone of appropriate size.

Just hope the slammed seatpost is not stuck in the seat tube......
Makes one wonder why people just don't buy the correct size bikes for themselves......

I've got a 23" frameset of that year in my basement. Didn't really care for the arabesque but it's a really nice frameset.

I do that on all my bikes I store overhead so I'm less likely to snag the saddle when moving things underneath them.
