VT, NH, ME, MA, NY, CT BMX Racers - 1980s, Twin State BMX & Arrowhead BMX Tracks, NH
I'm doing research for a book on the history of BMX at Twin State BMX & Arrowhead BMX tracks in Claremont, NH in the 1980s. I raced at Twin State in 1981 when it was sanctioned by the ABA -- I believe the first year that the track was in operation. I raced every weekend of that year and had a great time. I only returned to that track one more time in 1982, at the War of the Stars. The track had changed sanctions to the NBL. The track had been re-designed with bigger jumps! I got into competitive high-school track and cross-country running and just about forgot BMX. I didn't keep up with BMX in Claremont, but 1981 was a great time for me. I believe Twin State was open from 1981 to 1983, while Arrowhead was open from 1983-1985. I would really like to hear from anyone that raced that either track back in the 1980s. I can be reached by PM or E-mail at maplestreetestate@yahoo.com. Look forward to hearing from anyone on this subject.
I have included a few photographs that my mother purchased from the photographer that used to take photographs at the track. He used to come around to the parents with a photo binder and parents would pay like $2.50 per photograph.
I raced on a stock Schwinn Scrambler for most of the season. My number was ABA-60.

I race at Twin State 82-83 when it was NBL. One of my favorite tracks. I remember it being all stonedust surface and very fast. I raced a Puch Trackpro xl made by Thruster. and my NBL # was 00G. There was also a bike shop on location. Very handy for anything that might have broken onRaceday.
