Upgrade from 180mm to 200/203mm on Fox 34 Rhythm shock with Guide T brakes?

My new '20 Giant Trance Pro 29 2 came with SRAM Guide T brakes. Front rotors are 180 mm, and the calipers are post-mounted on 20mm adapters. The bike is great, but I am not happy with the brakes for my style of riding.

I want larger 200mm (or 203mm) front rotors, but I can't seem to find an adapter that fits. I bought a new 6-bolt 203mm rotor and a Shimano F203P/PM adapter, but it doesn't mount the caliper out far enough (doesn't work). I can't seem to find a SRAM adapter.

Any ideas what will work? Do I go 200 mm or 203 mm?

~ Mike

The SM-MA-F203P/PM adapter that you bought is a 23mm adapter for using a 203mm rotor with 180mm post mounts

The SM-MA-F203P/P adapter is a 43mm adapter that lets you use a 203mm rotor with a 160mm post mounts.
The SRAM 40mm Post adapter lets you use a 200mm rotor with 160mm post mounts.

Ah... that makes perfect sense. I've got 160mm post mounts, which explains why they have the 20mm adapter! I'll order the correct one.

Thanks for the insight. Much appreciated. You just made my evening.

I made the same mistake when I went to a 203mm front disc. I didn’t look at the caliper/fork before ordering.

FWIW, if you don’t like the mushy feel of SRAM brakes, you might try Shimano SLX or better brakes. One thing I don’t like about SRAM brakes is the amount of modulation. They always feel mushy to me, compared to Shimano brakes.

Yeah, I am coming from Shimano XT brakes on my last bike (more than a decade old) and I really liked them. If the larger rotor doesn't help, I am going to go Shimano.

Save your time and money. get some shimano xt, dual pistons are awesome. Got them on my Krampus for bikepacking. The loaded bike is 60 lbs or so. Me? 235 on a good day. 180 rotors front and rear. Fabo set up.

Or buy MT520 for half the price of dual piston XT. Same design, same braking power, same weight, half the price. They just miss some tool free adjustability on the lever side.
