Recumbent What IS that thing?! Recumbents may be odd looking, but they have many advantages over a "wedgie" bicycle. Discuss the in's and out's recumbent lifestyle in the recumbent forum.

I saw a SWB USS for $450, Portland OR

Hey guys, if there is anyone in Portland OR looking for a SWB USS, I saw this for $450 at Community Cycling Center.

I don't know anything more about it, nor do I have any relationship to CCC except as an occasional customer.

Thought someone might be interested.

Looks like an Haluzak. In Portland, I'd have expected it to be a Vision. Haluzaks seemed to be more popular along the east coast.

I don't know much about recumbents, but it seemed pretty decent. Nice components, cosmetics good.

But the sign says "$425".

If it's a Haluzak and in Portland, I think I know the owner. He rode with me on a couple of the OHPV rides but I haven't seen him in a couple years. I'll repost to the OHPV forum and see what happens.

My bad!

People are always bemoaning the cost of recumbents, so I thought maybe someone could use this fairly inexpensive one.

That price is a steal. I hear that Haluzaks have a reputation for great handling, among the best for a SWB.

I know that their owners are pretty loyal, and thhe last I heard, Bill Haluzak was still honoring frame warranties and such even though the company has been closed for many years.

The seat design and seat attachment at the frame are a dead giveaway. I have an Haluzak Horizon SWB hanging in the garage and it looks exactly the same. It's true that there are a lot of loyal Zak owners. The new price for the Horizon when I bought mine used in 2004 was over $2K. The bike came in 3 versions the Leprechaun, the Horizon and Hybrid Race. That is a steal,

the tires look as if they may be old, but no rust or grunge is evident in the photos.

I hope someone picks it up.

There were a few nice bikes for sale outside CCC - a Vitus 992/Shimano 600 tricolor also caught my eye - but i thought this SWB was the best deal of them all.
