Beginner buying guide
hi,
im new to this forum so please forgive me if I posted in the wrong section.
I have been looking at some cyclocross and gravel bikes. But they seem quite expensive. Can you guys please advise on makes and models I could take a look at for a beginner cyclocross bike ?
Thanks!

Canyon makes an Alumin(i)um-framed Grail that is a very good deal for the price.
Merlin and Chain Reaction Cycles might also be worth a look.

What is your budget? You can get something great for under 2 grand that is way more than a "beginner bike", something you won't outgrow quickly once you start getting into it more seriously:
For gravel (not cross so much) look at the Salsa Journeyman bikes and also the Kona Roves. Some of those lines can be gotten into for under a grand.

I agree that it would be helpful to know your budget.
In the meantime, consider the Cannondale Topstone series.

I know lot of guys who get into gravel or CX though 2nd hand bikes, as long as the fit is right & it has the build that you really desire (like disc vs rim brakes).
IMHO, it's a lot less expensive to buy what you want the 1st time around.. the problem being is that every year there's always something new that you want!
