Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I bought some Dura Ace 7800 bits on eBay from good sellers at about 50% off of MSRP.

This isn't my best score, by far. It's just more rewarding when you snipe one out of a crowd.

Ebay really is only a conduit for the sellers so I am at a loss of how you call it a "etailer"? No doubt you can get some good buys through ebay.

I buy all my cycling stuff on ebay. The savings can't be beat. Even the "Buy it now" stuff is generally cheaper than anywhere else. I do support my local LBS on bikes thou. When I'm not sure of the fit, I'll buy from them.

Caveat emptor and all that, but I've gotten quite a few really good deals on eBay and have yet to have a "bad" experience using By-it-now for new stuff.

God bless the mid-west bike shops and outdoor outfitters that use Ebay. 7 times out of 10 I call one of the two shops I prefer to do business around here I get "no, but we can order it".

"so can I."

And I don't have to spend half a tank of gas picking it up from you, even though we can still be friends.

Froogle and Ebay. That's all I got. Maybe nextag. But Froogle and Ebay.

EDIT: by Froogle, I mean Google Products.

My best score was a set of Campy Record cranks for $20. Item was listed wrong, crappy cell phone pic, etc. I took a gamble and was surprised to get NOS cranks to put on my wife's rig. So pretty....

Then again, I undersold some things too while learning the ropes.
