Well assembled, big applause.
terrific fork crown, there are a number of French 650b frames that may not have super light tubing but do have decent lugwork and details.
obviously there was a market and it had expectations.

Man, I'm with you on that fork crown; it's worth the price of admission alone. (Whatever that price was).

And I'm sure no one has ever suggested this to you, Jeff, but you should totally buy a 650b bike someday

Wow! Just. WOW!

This truly is inspiring, and reminds me of how much I really dug Sixty Fiver's 1950's Peugeot PH-50. Once the project queue clears...

Fantastic restoration job, done just right. I always seem to end up with racing bikes, but my heart is really in the cyclotouring space that this bike occupies the center of. Definitely a grail bike for me. The opera singer headbadge is a nice detail.

i did a quick search of ebay.fr today, not very many larger bikes, but the prices are reasonable, they shipping is factored it, which is essentially raises the price more than the cost of the frame and related parts.

I think Van Halen copied that fork crown for the band logo.

Absolutely gorgeous! A wonderful choice of bar tape color. Very neat how the Cyclo FD appears to avoid rub when in the small/small combos.

The box lining is good inspiration for a job I hope to only half mangle on a build soon.

Helyett continued

The bar tape is Newbaum's green that is a bright "kelly" type green. I brushed on two coats of amber shellack. It could probably use a third coat, but I will let my hands darken it up over time.

The cyclo front derailleur levers rotates forward and back. There is an eccentric groove that moves the derailleur cage forward and back. In my view, it is a more elegant solution vs. the similar vintage Simplex lever, which pivots left and right.

I purchased some LED bulbs from eBay and replaced the incandescent bulbs. Big difference.

Still haven't had a chance to ride it...

There is a Juy model manual front mech which operates in this manner as well. It is called the Randonneur. Here it is in a 1960 catalogue page -

Here is a Randonneur in the flesh -

Freres Huret also offered a front mech with this sort of mechanism.
