Got in a pre-breakfast ride this morning that included both of the local rail-trail conversions as well as cutting through the parking lots of a Waffle House and a shopping mall after passing trailer parks and the stately homes of Robber Baron Row on E. Creswell. Not many pix though -

- just the autumnal glory of the leaves on the trail. But still absolutely worth it!

Russ, was it foggy or are you going for the soft focus bike porn effect?!

This morning was single-speed Sunday on another beautiful and unusually warm Nov day in the Boston area:

Icy!

Cape Cod Canal...lil over 16 miles...icy in some spots...got real lucky on the first patch...not much sunlight on the “Island” side of the Canal til 11:00ish, even then...didn’t go down...no more early rides on this side of the Canal...”Main Land”/“Off Island” side bathed in sunlight all day!

Took “Old Glory” Paletti for a spin around town today. Willow Tree is some kind of tech company headquartered in Charlottesville and they recently revamped the old Wool Factory, making a nice complex with a restaurant, coffee shop, and outdoor seating area. Despite being off the beaten path, always people there when I ride through. It’s brought a bit of spark to the industrial side of town. This used to be a dead end street but now I can ride through the parking lot to make a loop around this side of town.

Old mill race which connects to the Rivanna River just out of pic. Last week there was a 4 foot tall Heron here.

It’s a cookbook!

I rode 30 miles fixed today in Scituate on my Bates.
Temp may set a record high, around 77.

There was a 4.1 earthquake in SE Mass today that we could feel here. Not a common occurrence.

I saw a ton of other riders out.

On a gorgeous day, I rode the '88 Trek 400 in Logan Twp, Gloucester County NJ today.
(I used the same background recently for a pic of my Raleigh Super Course.)

I enjoy seeing all the snow pics because, while beautiful, I'm not experiencing it firsthand! Cold and cycling and me don't play well.

Be that as it may, it was chilly - but dry - today; ventured out this afternoon to put in 30 miles or so on the local roads/trail. Ended up at the Jerry Baker Velodrome in Redmond and took this pic:

Took the trail back the remaining 12 miles, picking up some herbal pain remedy on the way. It seems to be kicking in (and more importantly, working) about now, so no aches and pains to complain about this evening

EDIT: I just noticed how prominently the "Gugificazione" decal stands out on the top tube. From here on out, I consider that to be the model name. If asked, I will make up some totally bull**** story about what the word means, a different story every time. Hopefully the story(s) will be humorous. gugie , I'll keep the family name out of the picture unless, of course, I'm crediting the fantabulous metalwork you performed here.

T’is true! In this case, I neglected to wipe off the lens of my iPhone when I whipped it out of the center jersey pocket - I need to carry a vapor shield between me and my phone!

Like most of the country east of the Mississippi, Chicago has been enjoying a week of 70-degree temps in November. To celebrate, I rode 70 miles north.

Got stopped by several trains today - tankers full of Canadian maple syrup.

The ravines are starting to look bare. Look carefully and you can see a bridge spanning the gap.

Spent some quality time with a very friendly (almost) black cat. He had about 10 white hairs on his chest. Made for a nice break mid-ride.

I've ridden by this estate with the tower hundreds of times and have often wondered what it looks like inside.

Noticed a "for sale" sign on it. Here's a pic inside the tower from the listing:

One of my favorite rail underpasses - All iron and limestone.

Fall means the hornet nests become visible. Saw quite a few today.

Probably the last of the 70s for 2020...

Lots of leaves down - need to watch for piles in the bike lanes.

Long shadows in the early afternoons now.

It was a nice day today, weather-wise, so I suspended WFH for an hour or so to finally take out the Olympia Sport for a test ride through the local polders.

Real life got in the way today and though I wanted to do a long ride to enjoy the last of the spring-like weather, I didn’t have time, so did a quick ride around town from my front door. Still managed 20 miles, 2000 ft climbing. Main purpose of the pic though is to parade the Gios. It hasn’t made an appearance here in a while, and I don’t think ever with the Ventos. I haven’t ridden it in at least 2-3 months and it recently crossed my mind to sell it. Figured I should ride it to get that crazy idea out of my head.

No particularly interesting scenery, but today marks nine riding days in a row, the last five on my new-to-me Serotta. For the most part, riding north has been terrific, riding south kind of brutal.

I think things will change tomorrow. If nothing else, I'll have to drag out the tights and wool jersey.

I headed up to Blue Hill Observatory this morning, a good climb for the soul (and lungs):

It also seems like most of the leaves conspired to fall today:

Tuesday's weather proved to be too promising for me not to take a day off so I did just that. I drove to New Paltz again but this time took a different route. Within the first I climbed Mohonk Mt. to get the blood pumping. The sun was already warming the air and road nicely so the ascent was comfortable. I then began the fast descent on the shady side of the mountain but quickly realized that the road was slick with dew from the night before when I fishtailed slightly on a turn. Caution was in order on the descents thereafter especially on the windy turns in Minnewaska and the Shawangunk Ridge. Just a gorgeous day with spectacular scenery and riding. 52 miles with 3,900 ft. +- in climbing.

Yep, pretty much been a week of rain here, only had one nice day outside.
As a result, rode 30+ miles each day in southern Ireland (Sheepshead Bay), Tuscany (an Eroica stage) and Mallorca (one of the Tour stages). On the TACX Neo 2T.
Quite a workout.

Two days off the bikes due to heavy rain here on Delmarva. All good, it was time for a break anyway. I will be ready for an extended ride tomorrow, and will pass the 7,000 mile mark YTD.
