Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

About 90% - 95% of my riding is commuting. I do that on either a mid-80s MTB with drop bars, a recumbent, or a velomobile (fully faired recumbent trike). Most of my JRA rides are on a recumbent. I only ride a road bike about once or twice a year.

I hate the cagers sometimes.

I used to get hot with stuff like that, too. It's not much, but having a camera and being able to report them online (to UpRide.cc at least, I don't think that most law enforcement gives a rip unless it's particularly egregious) helps. For me, it was the (assumed) smugness of being untouchable in their steel and glass cage once they step on the gas and pull away. Having their *******ry and license plates on tape mitigates that to a certain extent.

I was wearing a stylish orange UT hoodie on the trail yesterday and a passerby made a comment about me being "lost," as if proper fandom has geographic boundaries. SMH

OoooOOOOoooh - I have just been made aware that Schwalbe is now making tubeless, tan sidewall G-One Allround gravel tires. It almost makes me want to wear out my (black sidewall) G-Ones faster so that I can get some for the Haanjo.

I worked at a dealer when they hired this mechanic who was supposed to be the greatest ever and management gave him more money, a helper, and allowed him to pick his jobs. All things they had never done for anyone, the rest of us even got the same pay rate.
We told them he sucked as a technician, but you can't tell a manager he made a mistake. One day after shift 2 of us saw him loading his truck with paper towels, toilet paper, and even packets of coffee. Stealing everything he could get his hands on.

They didn't fire him until it was revealed he was throwing repair orders in the trash if he didn't want to work on the car.

i think it would make me even angrier knowing that nothing would come out of the recording, unless it is serious as you say.

Never heard of upRide.cc, is it just an online repository of a-hole cagers?

Essentially, but you've got video evidence, a location on a map and license plate info (which is entered in to the submission form and presumably searchable by authorities).

Many cops are lazy and/or indifferent, but not all. But having more eyes is better, regardless. If being recorded by cyclists becomes the norm, or at least common, I think that it goes a long way towards changing the no-repercussions mentality behind the wheel. And while nothing may happen specifically because of your recorded incident, it may help down the road by establishing a history of dangerous/aggressive behavior by particular drivers.

Slow morning everyone must be working. I'm done now and will ride in non-peak temperature. I tried to hit peak temperature yesterday but got hosed when it clouded up. It was warmer at noon than when I rode around 2.

Maybe I should have gone around the block this morning.

Strava says I've ridden my Trek 2499.8 miles since I've bought it
